The aftermath of this to members inside the military and among military DEP'ers (about to leave for Basic Training) is that we are asked and some are enforced to not wear their uniform off military bases. Recruiters, federal office workers, and members on leave, As well as people about to ship out, on base pass after basic, and people in techschools in the military are all asked or told, depending on who decides to enforce or not, to not wear Military Pride apperal or uniforms outside of base. Clothing, such as hats, shirts, and pants, as well as bags, cups, and other misc. pride items are asked not to be worn/paraded.
I don't have a link for this, but the message sent to my USAF Recruiter, and then forwarded to me said as such,
- Very important information for those leaving for basic training. Please take note of changes!
Effective this week, those who will be shipping for basic training will need to add the below items to their packing list. Members who do not have the required items will not be eligible to go off base during their town pass. The following will be the expected civilian clothes policy:
At a minimum, graduating Airmen are required to wear long pants, a collared shirt and/or blouse equivalent and closed toes shoes (no high heels). All clothing will be neat and clean. An example of inappropriate clothing include: ripped, torn, frayed, skin-tight, or patched clothing and any garments which are revealing or contain obscene, profane or lewd words or drawings. All pants will be worn on waists and not sag.
Airmen will not be authorized to wear uniforms off base while on their town pass. As further information becomes available I will be sure to post updates. You may contact your recruiter or PM me for further questions. Have a great day.

As well as a briefing my friend, an Airman First Class (E-3), Facebook'ed me about, "BL: They will not wear uniforms on Town Pass or in transit to Tech Training.
They should either pack enough clothes when they leave or have visitors being additional. 'It should be tasteful and appropriate.' Their telling us to wear stuff like polos and kakhis, I don't own any of those."
