A new Intelligence law was passed on Tuesday, May the 5th 2015 by the French parliament.

It will among other allow the French intelligence services:
-to screen all the meta-data linked to the French communications (phone/internet) thanks to an algorithm
-to create a file recording the dangerously behaving people (the file will be out of the jurisdiction of the CNIL),
-to use IMSI-catchers and microphones to record dangerously behaving people life and the people surrounding them.

So far, a few citizens, the CNIL and the OSCE have criticised the law.
It it said that the limits of its applicability is too blur, that could allow to spy political opponents.
Furthermore the prime minister can decide himself to spy on a citizen.

The French president and some deputies have requested the Conseil Constitutionnel to judge the law. This institution can veto the law if it considers it is not constitutional.
