Police fatally shot man in struggle over officer's gun, authorities say (13)

Something to be aware of quoted from the LA Times (Link to the video/article at the bottom)

"authorities said Sunday night that Los Angeles police fatally shot a man on skid row during a struggle over an officer's weapons.

Police officials offered a detailed account of what they say prompted the Sunday morning shooting, which was captured on video by a bystander.

Cmdr. Andrew Smith said officers assigned to the LAPD's Central Division and Safer Cities Initiative — a task force focused on skid row — responded to the location about noon Sunday after receiving a 911 call reporting a possible robbery.

Smith said the officers approached the suspect and made contact with the man, at which point he "began fighting and physically resisting the officers." The officers attempted to take him into custody and at one point, attempted to use a Taser that Smith said was "ineffective."

The man continued to resist police, Smith said, and the man and some of the officers fell to the ground."

Five shots on one man on the ground surrounded by at least a half dozen officers... I am so fucking disgusted right now.

"But he tried to hit them and was struggling for the gun!!" Maybe if they didn't take out their fucking guns when they had plenty of men there to handle him without it, that struggle never would have happened.

I've never heard of the police using a taser and it was ineffective.

I often hear it was too effective though, and causing a heart attack.

>>3 tasers aren't always effective.
But this shit is ridiculous. The LAPD might be the most corrupt police force in this country.

Clearly this shows the frustrations of those cops as well.
Many people these days lack the respect to the authorities as they used to had.
Social media and current trends ain't helping regaining these values.

However they where still in the wrong but cause of the behavior of the mindless mass.

And this is one of the things, why I'm planning to move to Canada instead of the U.S.

Hmm, looking at the video of the officers struggle with the man it looks like they were not properly trained to handle the situation, and yea im sure that 4 officers can handle that. I am leaning slightly to this being a piss poor training out come, and see someone loosing their job and possibly facing jail time; but I will wait for more evidence to come because it's not totally clear what happened.

I can't see clearly in the video, but it sounds like he had taken one of their guns and was refusing to drop it, meaning that if my assessment is accurate then they were justified in shooting him to protect themselves, though even then it wasn't the best solution.
