The countries of Mediterranean Sea are often associated with great weather, beautiful beaches and listed buildings, but not really many people know that every year about 250-300 millions of birds from North Europe fall victim to Poaching in those countries.
Because in Northen Europe the winter can be extremely cold, birds fly from our countries to the warmer ones to outlive the winter and come back in spring. Nonetheless they have to stop somewhere in their journey and fill in their energy for the further flight. The poachers use this to capture or kill many species, endangered ones included. It happens, inter alia, in Malta, Cyprus, Italy and Egypt (there is also Spain, France, Greece, Lebanon and many more).
The "hunters" don't look at the fact that they're killing specifics of the endangered species like storks or european rollers (ex.there are only several dozens of pairs in my country). The hunters don't shoot them this often. They have much more "fun" ways to do this.
For example one of those ways is dousing branches with a sticky liquid - the birds land on the branch and can't fly away, because their legs are sticked to the branches. Many of them die from hunger and the rest is killed to be cooked and served in expensive restaurants.
The other popular way to catch birds is creating traps in bushes. There are few openings easy to fly in and hard to fly out and a net on top of the bush. Inside hunters place a bird with broken legs that will crow out of pain and draw other birds inside.
I can't understand how can this be a national sport. How can people do such a cruel thing and think it's fun..? Not to mention that the population of singing birds is falling drastically (ex. in Poland in two years it fell 30%)
I would ask anyone that have access to people who hunt birds, to try and convice them it's a bad thing. But I only want you all to know what is happening.

>>2 Thanks~ (And well written >>1) You could also create a mission about this if you want. In Missions there's a petition thread where you can post petitions from change.org about the subject, or you can create and share your own petition with us.

>>3 You're making me sick -,-

>>4 Thank you and no problem :) Now when you said (typed) it, I think creating a mission would be a really good idea - thanks for it ^^ But in the same time, I don't think a petition can help in this situation. The signatures aren't enough to stop the killing.
Anyway, thank you for your advice ^v^

>>5 Not sure about that. The most important thing about petitions is how they're perfect for spreading awareness. Since this us about animals, on change.org especially, you should gain many signatures for Dollars and animal lovers combined.

>>6 Ahh you say..? Well then. I didn't think of that option, but it really seems like a good way to spread the info around the world (lol I think I'm overdoing it xD). Thanks for that :) I'll see what can be done and do what I can now ^^
