More than 100 gang members were arrested by the NYPD due to charges of violence. Half of the arrested members were held for two homicides, 19 nonfatal shootings and possesing 50 weapons. Several 15-year-olds were charged with carrying loaded firearms, according to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance. Gangs include the "3Staccs", "Make It Happen Boys" and "Money Avenue". These gangs engaged in street fights which caused shootings.
The arrests were part of an initiative to reduce the violence in the city, as made by Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
Some members of the gangs were children 10-14, with adults being no more older than 30.

Guys, I personally think that gang violence is really getting out of hand. Lives get lost in the way, and there are kids involved! I live in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA and there's lots of gangs around here too.

I mean there are gangs here as well in D.C but most people take them no mind because of how we always make sure to be protected or not noticed. And its actually scary if you think how society here has molded with gangs and gang violence and does nothing.

Even if gangs are a problem, I don't think the Dollars should get involved. If the police found out about us in that kind of way (being involved in gang fights) it would be awful for our image. We don't want to be seen as a fighting gang, we want to be known as a gang who tries to help the world. If people want to fight against gangs, they shouldn't do it in the name of the Dollars.
