*this thread is applicable to the Countries board as well, but I think it fits better here*
So, I'm a Canadian, and something that was in our news recently was that the Caribbean nation of Turks and Caios wants to join Canada! I think this is a great idea.... the unification of the two countries would have positives for both parties. Sadly, our government isn't really interested in doing this. But all the citizens are.
So, do you guys have any thoughts?

i don't really know anyting about politics but i thinks it's a great idea!

#5 that's a stupid thought because of the way our government is in a term of corruption at the moment as well as the fact candida would be better off with out us although i would like to be able to cross the st Clair river the river server as a border between my town in the us and candida it would be dexterous on bout accounts as for the issue of the join country's you have to think of what every one else would think once you take that country will the world worry candida is going on a land taking expo or will country's declare war on canida

There might be positives for the States should Canada join them, but there wouldn't be any for Canada. Not trying to be offensive, but Canadians don't really like Americans all that much, and our values are way different.
As for America being 'the best country in the world', that is your opinion and many people would disagree with you. No free health care, rampant racism, and the highest prison population in the world? That's not really my idea of the best country...
But I can see why you guys would want to join Canada ;)

Except for the racism part. Canada only has less explicit racism.
Although if Harper has his way, our prison population could become world-class too...

The thought process is that things aren't 'that bad' now with Harper, and they don't want to risk things falling to shit with someone else.

Or maybe you haven't heard about how he has banned media in parliament, is selling off all our resources to the states and China, and is trying to form anti-women's health and anti-gay laws?

personally im not from Canada iv never been there im from the united states but the more places that band together the better off this world is it benefits the people and the economy the military receives a benefit as well all in all its positive i believe your government should look from the eyes of the people it would help your country allot thats just a personal perspective though

One may decide to be the aggressor in a war and then drag the others into it, harming all of them for the sake of that one country's gain. Some countries can be parasites that only take goods from the allied countries and not give anything in return. It's always a win lose when countries band together, at the end of the day, one expect something out of the other.
