The judge's reasoning for such a mild sentence is this: "I have come to the conclusion that due to the concern and embarrassment caused to both you and your family that you will not be offending again." and "I take into account what has been said to me and the fact that you stopped the activity yourself. You realised it was wrong rather than being caught and forced to stop."

There is no 'actual feminist movement' - there's just people with similar ideals that identify with the same label. You can tell a radfem that they aren't a real feminist until the cows come home, but it won't change anything. It's an argument that no-one is going to win.

No offence but this thread leaves out some pretty key pieces of information.

1)It was statutory rape
2)She was only caught because the boy was overheard bragging about it at school
3)The girl has a child of her own that would be fucked if it grew up with her in jail

With that in mind, I think that 12 months jail and 12 months parole is actually quite a reasonable sentence.

People should not be defending her, however.

The problem I have is that the reasons you brought up aren't said to have influenced the judge's decision. The the reasons that are stated are incredibly shitty and shouldn't ever be used in a court. So it's either bad reporting or a bad judge.
