Vodka blamed for high death rates in Russia (13)

1 Name: AnInfoBroker !TzIhFQeLZE : 2014-01-31 10:50 ID:6v6KfZwo [Del]

The high number of early deaths in Russia is mainly due to people drinking too much alcohol, particularly vodka, research suggests.

The study, in The Lancet, says 25% of Russian men die before they are 55, and most of the deaths are down to alcohol. The comparable UK figure is 7%.

Causes of death include liver disease and alcohol poisoning. Many also die in accidents or after getting into fights.

The study is thought to be the largest of its kind in the country.

It's not VODKA that is to blame, it's the people who drink the Vodka and die from it, that we should blame, and perhaps the events leading up to them needing to consume large amounts of the shit.

That's like blaming guns for killing people, or blaming the car when a drunk driver crashes and kills a family.

>>8 If a dog keeps on trying to play with a snake then it's the dogs fault, that doesn't mean you shouldn't remove the snake.

Putting prohibitions on vodka is quite possibly the only way to stop such a wide spread, culturally ingrained problem. But that probably wont happen because Mother Russia.

>>8 Guns let people who are going to try and kill someone do it easily.

We'll never be able to stop people from trying to kill people, just like we'll never stop people from getting into situations where they feel like drinking vodka.

However, we can limit the guns, and we can limit the vodka. It only limits, not eliminates the problem. But, like I said, the problem will never go away completely.
