Trans-Pacific Partnership (14)

1 Name: Chreggome : 2013-11-14 11:44 ID:LwugM+Mn [Del]

Wikileaks has released a 95 page, 30,000 word document spelling out details on the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). The secret globalist agreement will have a significant effect on a wide range of issues including internet freedom, medicine, patents, and civil liberties. The cabal will meet in Salt Lake, Utah, between November 19 and 24.

Discuss.

Haven't finished reading it yet, but this might be worthy of The Main. Seems pretty important for a lot of people. Just saying.

I've only read the first 8 pages so far, and I can't help but wonder how much sense laypeople like us can really make out of that document. I'm not talking about the language, as you can get through that without too much trouble by reading carefully and consulting a dictionary if/when you come across words you don't know the meaning of. To really understand the implications of a document like this, I would think you'd have to be familiar with both current and past law and (enforcement) procedure regarding intellectual property, as well as having some way to understand the intent behind the words, as well as the whole document (with highly technical language like what's used in the document, many things can be interpreted in more than one way).

The reason I think knowing the intent is important is because it can help people to determine just what the nations involved are trying to do by entering into this agreement, and decide if it's good, bad, or neither, and whether they're okay with it, or feel the need to try to do something about it if they think it's bad.

My very first thought after reading the OP was "why is it secret?" But, seeing as I've barely scratched the surface so far, I think it's premature to entertain any sort of assumptions one way or the other about that.

I also wonder just how long it took them to draft it. It seems like that would be one hell of a project.

I can't believe that this isn't being discussed more.

Meanwhile, people pour into the streets so fags can get married.
lol as a species when need to get our priorities in order.

I'm being super lazy by asking to be told but just what are some of the changes that will be implemented? I'm just a little sceptical of the fact that Julian/Wikileaks, having run their last hype-train into the dirt and failed the Australian elections, are looking for some more publicity by making an overt fuss over nothing and trying to make it look super-duper serious.

>>4 Gay rights are more tangible. It's like trying to stop a train or a bike from hitting a child. Obviously the train is more important, but most people will go for the bike because they feel like they can do it.

I myself have only really read the parts on Internet freedoms and intellectual property. I don't see how anyone can justify making laws that will significantly change the lives of many people without even telling them about it. Before even considering what the content of this agreement is, it should be transparent and public.

>>5 I don't trust ASSange at all.
I think that the government over here is trying to do some seedy shit but I think those "true patriot heroes" have their own agendas, like most folks.

>>6 I was mostly just being a dick.
+2 for the analogy though, I really liked that.

sorry it took so long to get back to this. I gave up on page 9 but if it isn't just BS this could cause some serious issues. Like worse than the old SOPA problem.

>>10 Conspiracy is code for don't question what we tell you

Saying that individuals have their own agendas isn't a conspiracy, it's just common sense.

>>11 A conspiracy is the act of conspiring, it's conspiracy theories that are often full of shit.

>>12 Well we aren't really conspiring what Face said doesn't make sense in that context.

A lot of theories in general are full of shit.
That's pretty much what a theory is.
