High School Riot (1)

1 Name: Dandelion : 2013-10-30 17:16 ID:AFfVPBz1 [Del]

At one of the football games my school was participating in, a riot started due to two college students at the game and one student from each participating high school. Here I have a video from a friend that was right next to part of the riot.

If that link didn't work, try this one. It is the same video, but it was posted on the Daily Bulletin's web site.

Copy and past the web address if you want to see some of what happened. This second one also holds the most accurate account of what happened that was open on the internet.

I was glad to learn that none of the actual football players were involved in the riot. The four people mentioned before that started the riot were badmouthing the opponent's team and threats started to be said by both parties.

I interviewed a number of students who were caught in the fray. I will say no names due to confidentiality. These accounts are more personal and did not get reported to the public.

One girl was trying to move away from the crowd that was flocking to watch the first fight that broke out, but she was swept up in it. The security guards that were usually at the school everyday were trying to get the crowd under control, but were getting nowhere. They resorted to bludgeoning the crowd to stop with their batons. This was when the girl and many others on the edges of the crowd were bashed repeatedly. Though, do not be angry at the security guards, some of the crowd members acted first by attacking the guards first for no reason. It just happened that others were barred in the attack.

When the police arrived, many reported there to be around twenty police cars on the school's street after the repeated calls for more backup. I would advise to stick closer to the number reported by the article that was in the second link I posted. The police were armed with simple b-b guns and shot at the pedestrian's feet if they were trying to exit the football field.

Another person was away from the first fight when the police came rushing by and bumped into a friend. This caused a smoke bomb the police man was carrying to go off right in front of them and the police officer. The students and officer were not severely harmed by the smoke bomb, but there were some side effects in the throat that will not be permanent.

I was wondering why there is such animosity amongst simple high schools. I found an article that explains the environment of my school through a student that had to leave because of the harsh environment. In short, we have great API scores, but the brutality of many students overshadow it.

Here is the link to the article. It is very VERY important to understand this post.

With these accounts of the event and the video and two short articles in mind, you can see that the event was very messy but taken care of with some minor mishaps.
