Basically these two students had bought an ex-drug trafficking car auctioned from the United States and were coming back from a competition in Sinaloa, Mexico when they were stopped by an army retention, where they found 1 kilogram of cocaine.

They stated that it wasn't their's and it was left there by the government of the United States. Since there was no proof at the moment, they were sent to prison. One of the parents sued and demanded the government to intervene claiming it was their fault; they did so and proved it was an accident that it was left inside the car, however even with this information the Mexican government spent approximately 5 months in proving this, and even so didn't send them free due to judge being on vacation.

In the end these students spent 10 months in prison while being proven innocent half of the time. They have currently been free for about a month or so (November 2012-October 2013); they were in high school at the time and now the Mexican government has offered support to help with their studies.

This is a very important news to me due to us being in the same school, same year, they were my classmates. Simply saying you are innocent, you can leave now and helping them enter school, is nothing in comparison to the psychological damage they suffered; it is unfair, and it's not the first time something similar to this case had happened.
