Well I'm sure we've all heard plenty about SOPA over the last few years so I don't really need to explain much about what it does. But for those who missed out on the internet #@%$ of the year, here it is more simple. SOPA was basically the government's ban hammer on all those on the internet concerning what it detailed. Last time I remember it had to deal with music or sites. Only this time it's focusing more on, and I got links for this so sorry if I screw up somewhere. The streaming, and downloading of videos, songs, etc. Now I believe this is the 7th time they tired having this sneak past the people's noses. So keep that in mind. Here are the links http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/07/unauthorized-streaming-felony_n_3720479.html
Now this is my first news post so I am unsure if I am allowed to leave a personal opinion on this, so please don't sage it if I'm not supposed to. Personally I don't believe in going to jail or prison for a max of 16 or 20 years for downloading a few games, music.. etc. To me this is pretty much an abomination that deserves to stamped out, again unbelievably.
I think it's screwed up to distribute music, videos, games, etc. illegally. However, it's only the distribution that bothers me. Those who distribute the torrents or post the exclusive new songs on mp3 sites should go to jail.
But if it's already out there and you download it, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I download music all the time; I'm just taking advantage of what's already there, even if I don't agree with the people who put it there in the first place.
I know that's a really bad argument, but it's just my opinion on the whole deal.
