Ignorant or logical comments aside, I really don't think people should be comparing abortion to the Holocaust. It disrespects everyone who had to live through that and is basically shaming the women who have a right to their own body. I understand the need to protest this topic, but seriously? The thing that bothers me the most about this isn't the bad comparison, but that the people protesting and making the comparison don't even know what they're talking about, according to what Blinking quoted in >>1.

How can people view themselves in a positive light for protesting something when they don't even know what they're protesting? I'd think that, to be willing to devote the time and energy to protest something, a person would need at least some idea of their own thoughts on the matter beyond "I don't like this". Y'know, maybe something along the lines of WHY they don't like it.

I know a lot of people go through life on auto-pilot, but this is just frustrating. After reading the first post, I just wanted to be able to yell at the protesters "Think! Use your brains, dammit!" If I wouldn't be hurting myself by doing so, I'd be banging my head against my desk so hard right now. Ugh.

I'm just going to request for that ban against SassyGirl already. They provide nothing but aggravation to our community and ought to be banned anyway.

Some people like that come around my university about once a year. They blow up pictures of aborted fetuses and set them up across the nearby park, with a giant sign saying "Abortion is Genocide." I heard one of them trying to defend that statement, and I had to leave because I couldn't hold in my laughter.

All living things have equal worth, be it a fetus or a full grown human being. HOWEVER, plants and bacteria are living things too - and we let those die all the time. Aborting a fetus is equal to stepping on an ant, to be honest.
The value of a life and the value of a person are not the same thing, though. Someone who is able bodied and contributing to society could be considered more valuable than a child who needs to be taken care of and educated, right? That's the value of a person, but not the value of a life (which I elaborated upon earlier).
The Holocaust killed thousands upon thousands of innocent people that had been removed from their homes and families. These people had responsibilities (children, siblings, people they needed to care for, ect) and obligations (they worked and contributed to society). Fetuses, however, take away resources instead of providing them. Which is why their value as a person is lower.
Don't give me that 'that aborted baby could be the next Einstein or Mozart' bullcrap either. Sorry, but that means I should be getting pregnant every month so as not to waste those precious eggs. And men should be getting girls pregnant left and right - can't let that sperm go to waste, right!
Fact is, the legalisation of abortions is a good thing. We have an overpopulation problem, and some people just aren't ready to handle children yet. The Holocaust was a lot worse so shut your faces and call it a day.

I find this kind of disgusting. With all of it aside, people everywhere talk about how bad the holocaust was, I agree yes it was a revolting act of human atrocity, however people fail to remember that while we didn't kill the jewish people or put them in death camps, we did something which, I wont say was as bad but close too. When the what 2-3 million Jews had no land to return to after WWII No one, I mean no one, no nation would let them in. Sure after a while I think a few thousand made it into the US, Australia and the UK, but these 3 countries, refused their entry for ages, and even when they did let them in, they only let in a miniscule amount of Jews. It is disgusting, yet we all blame Germany and paint them as the bad guy when really, we didn't give them a place to go, EVEN THOUGH WE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. Its always the same arguments. Personally, I'm against abortion but I also see the other side and I don't criticize them at all because sometimes the way they perceive the situation is different. I come from a religious background so I go against it but I'm not about to start fighting over it. People have the right to choose if they want to abort their child or not. May be it is better for some children to be aborted than to live in a shithole of home and an abusive family. In the end its all chance. Maybe that child could have been the next Steve Jobs but it ultimately falls on the mother who is giving birth to the child. What right do we have to impose upon other people's life choices?

I personally think abortion is really sad and am more or less against it, but than again if a 12 years old kid is raped and becomes pregnant I doubt it would be healthy for her to give birth . Things always have 2 sides it seems...
