It's called aquaponics and it's really amazing.

It uses no soil at all. It is a tank of fish, and the fish waste is used to feed the plants(which are grown in pebbles), and then the plants purify the water, and then the clean water is recycled back into the fish tank like a miniature ecosystem.

You can grow a lot of vegetables in a small space with low expenses. It can be used to feed a lot of people, maybe it can even stop global hunger!

There were some people in the ghetto which made their own out of stuff they found in the junkyard.

Why not just use a modified self-flowing flask?

I would say so since a self sustaining farming system would impact a lot of the regions of the world. Mainly for the better.

>>15 No doubt, I can imagine corporate or government assholes trying to get ever last penny out of it. Not to mention current farming industries would boycott or rally against the thing. Which from the farmers stand point one must understand if they're trying to make a living, but also at the same time realize this would save millions of lives now and in the future. :/ It really all depends how people can support this new type of farming. To me I wish it to be made and actually used for good use.

>>18 Farming is better for our economy, no need to cut out the farmer. Farmers sell raw product to firm, consumers buy final product from firm, jobs are in place, money is circulated between people, or something like that, I need to go back and learn economics. I barely passed that class, but you get the point. I think hydroponics are best for people who don't have as easy access to food as we do. This could save lives and not compromise our current system at the same time. But I'm unsophisticated, if someone had an educated response to this that'd be great.
