So at about 8:50 PM I experienced the fallout from a 5.7 quake about 30 minutes from here. Apparently it was felt throughout the entire region, even as far as Stockton, CA and Fallon, NV. Some stuff fell off my shelf and hit me in the face too.

Also, for the first time ever, my town is trending on twitter. *tear* It's so beautiful...

May you bathe in localised glory.
I can never remember though, is a 5.7 earthquake big or medium? Also is that kind of thing common in your area?

There hasn't been an earthquake like that here for decades, so it was quite a shock. And 5.7 is pretty damn big. It caused some landslides, destroyed a water supply system, and knocked the power for some people during the night.

Since that one, there's been two other earthquakes (4.0 or higher) and 51 aftershocks (2.5-3.9). And it's still happening.

Maybe Mt. Lassen is getting ready to erupt, maybe not.

>>4 It's been 99 years. It's certainly possible; though if that happens our ag community would be wiped out for about five years.
