Samsung is Preserving the Oligopoly (4)

This is an older article, but it was referenced in a more recent one about Samsung's business model. This one to be more specific.

The big thing in these two articles actually isn't Samsung's development into wireless tech, UHD video or anything of that sort. No, what really gets me is the company's interest in Medical Tech, of all things. They're investing leaps and bounds specifically so they can contract out to medical companies. Doing so would be a huge economic security for them, and give them more leeway with their other investments due to a consistent contracted income.

But it runs deeper. What if, and this is just a hypothesis; what if Samsung contracts out with the US government through the ACA? You know...Obamacare?

After all, the US government is known for contracting out to large corporations for its supplies. SafeLink is a subsidiary of America Movil (the Latin American corporation that owns Tracfone, Net10 and StraightTalk). If you've heard the term "Obamafone," this is what it's referring to. The US government also contracts out with companies such as General Motors (who they bailed out and still have stock in) and Ford Motor Company to mass produce law enforcement and military vehicles. Legislation for a joint contract between the Department of Education and Dell Computer was drafted and enacted in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. I could go on.

Point is, there is massive potential here for Samsung to eliminate much of its competition, using the Federal Government as a meat shield, so to speak. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? You make the call.
