Boston Bombing: More Peronal Than Religious? (1)

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, as one of the two Boston Marathon bombers, is best known for his younger brother and himself causing a disaster that resulted in 3 dead and approx. 260 injured.

Prior to their plans, Tamerlan was best known as a Golden Glove Champion boxer whose dreams were dashed when the national tournament had a change in rules, and Tamerlan Anzorovich Tsarnaev, 23, was barred from the national Tournament of Champions because he was not a United States citizen.

Angered and frustrated, he quit boxing altogether, seeing it as the sport's (and possibly, American culture as well) not sitting well with his increasing devotion to Islam.

However, interviews with friends, family and colleuges say that "[Tamerlan's] devotion, and the suspected radicalization that accompanied it, was a path he followed most avidly only after his more secular dreams were dashed in 2010".

It is peculiar that he would aim to bomb one of the most famous athletic events in this country. Could it be possible that his aim wasn't to spread an Islamic message of Anti-America, but as a decision based on his own personal frustrations?
