So I have been reading a lot in the news about homosexual parents and giving them the right to raise children. The fact is that the whole thing is absurd to me. Its a right to be able to raise children not a privilege. I would compare this to Hitler's ban of Jewish names and his sterilizing of Jews. Anyone have thoughts?

Personally I think everyone mentally sound has equal right to raise children

OP has a point, Sleep. Back during the 2008 election of the Deep South states passed initiatives to prevent non-marriage couples from adopting, and homosexual couples cannot get married. If DOMA is struck down this week in full, and marriages become federally recognized, adoption is going to become a federal right which overrides the rights of the states that voted against it. They do not want this to happen.
