Incidentally, the teacher involved isn't even affiliated with the highschool in question. It was the local christian community itself that called for this, and school officials state they do not condone it. From what I understand, the community is simply hosting a second prom as an "alternative" to the real one.

I do not believe lgbt have no purpose, however, if someone wants to host an event, then it should be done by their rules. Anyone that refuses to respect those rules is basically trespassing. If people want to refuse to attend the prom, or start a boycott, that would make sense. If nobody wants to go to prom because of that, then screw prom, and screw her. I know I will get a lot of hate for this, but I think it's better to have the freedom to host any prom you want than to attend any prom you want. Otherwise, the federal government will be hosting every prom there is. How free will that make us?

Before I say anything, I want to let you all know that I have recently completed a university course studying the lifespan and development of humans. This does not necessarily mean I am correct. The statement “I don’t believe they were born that way,” said by the teacher was obviously made with little thought for actual facts, and based only upon the belief of a god whose existence cannot be proven (I mean no offence). I am not homosexual, however many of my friends are. I can say this much, they don't decide to be gay, they discover it during puberty. In the course I earlier mentioned, discovering sexuality was discussed. There have been many theories proposed as to why people are homosexual. It has nothing to do with the upbringing; that much is certain. Instead, it is in the hormones. (Note that this is a THEORY, but a very likely one at that) During the first trimester of pregnancy, a baby's reproductive organs are formed depending on the levels of testosterone (boys) an oestrogen (girls.) The levels of hormones are decided by the father's chromosomes. I could have worded that differently, but I chose not to... So the reproductive organs are thus made. But if the foetus is exposed to an abnormal quantity of the hormone of the opposite gender during the second and most prominently third trimester, there is a likelihood that they will be homosexual. This can happen because of diet, drugs etc. Therefore, they are born homosexual. It's not a choice.

As the nephew of a gay man I find this appalling. Contrary to what most people think, just cause someones gay doesn't make them a child molester. In fact most child molesters are straight. I have grown up just fine for all the years I have been around, and guess what, not once was I molested by my uncle. They have a purpose, the same purpose straight people have. And from a comedic stand point, my uncle always said.
