While magazines and TV chains report about the lives and love affairs of movie actors and actresses, football players and other celebrities, the Chief of the Kayapo tribe heard the worst news of his entire life:

Mrs. Dilma, the president of Brazil, has given her approval for the construction of an enormous hydroelectric central (the world’s third largest one).

This means the death sentence for ALL the tribes living at the shores of the river because the barrage will flood more or less 400,000 hectares of the forest.

More than 40,000 natives will have to find other living surroundings where they will be able to survive.

The destruction of the natural habitat, the deforestation and the disappearance of several species of plants and animals will be a fait accompli.

We know that a simple image is the equivalent of a thousand words, it shows the price to be paid for the “quality of life” of our so-called “modern comforts.”
There is no space in the world anymore for those who live differently. Everything has to be smoothed away, that everyone, in the name of globalization must lose his and her identity and way of living.

If this enrages you, I urge and implore you to forward this message to all your friends, relatives and acquaintances.

Thank you in the name of life, nature and biodiversity.

:( I feel so bad. I wish there was something we could do...this isn't right. Any ideas?

I'm from Brazil myself, and this is really sad. There have been several organizations trying to stop this from being built, but I think it's really worthless. There's not much anyone can do to stop it.

>>3 Petition? I mean, we'll get human rights to agree because of the tribes. We'll get the tree huggers to agree because of the deforestation. We'll get people who agrees in what we stand for to sign it because, damn, that's sad.

This is not right. I wish someone could talk back and say that what they are doing is wrong. We need to stop destroying natural habitats.

Fuck the white man and their globalization.

THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT! NO WAY! THEY CANT DO THAT! THEY MAY BE TRIBES MEN AND WOMEN BUT THEY ARE STILL HUMANS AND DESERVE THEIR RIGHTS AND OPINIONS! FUCK THE WHITE MAN AND HIS MONEY MAKING SCHEME THAT'S ALL THAT THIS IS ABOUT IS A BIT MORE LINING IN HIS OWN POCKET. AND MORE TO THE POINT! WHAT ABOUT THE TRIBES HISTORY AND KNOWLEDGE? WHAT ABOUT THE PLANTS AND ANIMALS? IF WE KEEP ON KILLING PLANT AND ANIMAL SPECIES WE WILL DIE OUT ASWELL. TOO MANY NATURAL CURES FOR DISEASES THAT WE FACE ARE FOUND IN NATURE BUT WE DON'T SPEND THE TIME ON TRYING TO GET THEM! AND IF WE KEEP ON KILLING THEM OFF THEN WE ARE GOING TO DIE OUT AS A RACE TOO. IF WE CONTINUE THE WAY WE ARE GOING AS A WASTEFUL SOCIETY THEN WHEN THE TIME COMES WE CANT CONTINUE! WE WILL DIE! JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T TREAT THEM WITH HUMAN RIGHTS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY! THEY MAY BE 'Barbarians' IN YOUR EYES DOES NOT MEAN THEY SHOULD HAVE THEIR ANCESTRAL GROUND TAKEN FROM THEM!

ok im sorry for the swearing at the start and all the caps but i get really *&%*$# off when this happens to them thats all. Good luck Kayapo tribe in repelling this and keeping your ground.

Well, in all legal sense, keep in mind, that this is the right thing. Approval and all that was gotten. What they are doing is perfectly legal, and may improve some lives of a few people (though, this will more than likely cause some suffering, but man must suffer for man for man to get what it wants).

Morally, this is wrong. But, then again, I'm from America; we fucked over Native Americans, kept slaves, made the Chinese build our railroads... Yup, can't give a fuck since this doesn't involve me and there are much worse things that happened and are going on right now.

"What can we do to stop this, though, if we can at all?" Is the question we should be asking.

>>9 Still, i have to agree with >>8. I mean these are humans who probably know things that WE don't know. PLus, those are also ancestorial grounds. This so called "approval" was more or less one woman's desire to ruin the lives of a lot of tribes and wipe out natural things.

>>9 Even though it's legal, it's still wrong in so many ways. I mean kicking out the tribal people from their home just so someone can build whatever they want? I don't know if i'm derping, but shouldn't we, like. You know learn our mistakes from the past? No? Keep doing what we're doing? Okay!!! Derp! Derp!

No. seriously. I mean it's not like we going backwards or anything! //Sarcasm

>>5 is there a petition? il gladly sign if there is.

damn. this is wrong but like 9 said, im also from america....i'm not really one to talk and it is legal...
but the fact that the president doesnt take into account those lives that live near the river pisses me off.

they can not just do this. I mean really, taking away the homes of so many people. that's just so wrong. taking away their way of life. reality makes me sick

15 Name: Namashi : 2013-02-02 02:44 ID:E13Pr9C0 [Del]

Cmon we gotta do something,i had enough of this shit.

16 Name: Senna : 2013-02-02 15:34 ID:vAlYUWiW [Del]

That is just so wrong on every sense! I agree if there is a petition I'll sign too!

17 Name: Oathkeeper : 2013-02-02 20:48 ID:h/pincz+ [Del]

Your right the only problem is how is the petition going to help? I know it is the most legal way to stop political matters, but what are the odds that when we give the petition that it will stop them? We need a plan B if this is going to work. :(

18 Name: ToXic : 2013-02-03 00:25 ID:EH7w+SLY [Del]

I feel so useless in these situations.. What CAN we do..? I want to help, but realistacy, what is there to do?

>>10 >>11 I'm saying it's not right, morally, but legally... they can do whatever the fuck they want.

'Sides, this doesn't really affect most of us. We want to do good, and to make the world a better place, but in all reality, what are we actually going to do? The Dollars is just a bunch of people who; 1) think being in the Dollars is cool because it was in an anime, 2) go on the site a few times than leave and never come back, 3) a bunch of people that say they will do this and that and never do.

Again, people, what are we going to do about this all, if anything at all? What will we do? How will we do it? When will we do it? Why are we going to do it?

>>20 Now, that's not exactly true, about the Dollars. You very well know that we have members who try their best to work as well as possible.
Now, about this, as I've said before, there unfortunately isn't anything we can do about it anymore. There HAVE been petitions, organizations, etc... But nothing that can stop this choice.
So unfortunately, we'll have to deal with it, and they'll have to deal with it. The natives from Brazil have a long an painful history, and unfortunately, this is just another event that adds up to it.

that's horrible. Disgusting actually. How dare the president lady do that! It's evil and just wrong! >:(

Sad to hear this news. The government is shortsighted and don't know the importance of the Minorities.

>>28 Minorities don't matter as much compared to the majority unless you amass all the minorities and get more of the together than that majority.
