Self Immolation in Tibet (4)

Self immolation has long been a topic of discussion when it comes to the issues in Tibet. I will not post any pictures here least any faint-hearted person sees them, but you can google self-immolation and the entire thing becomes quite self-explanatory.

Here's a brief summery:
- Tibetans are performing self immolation (setting self on fire) as a form of protest against the Chinese government for various reasons such as:
a)taking away there freedom
b)disrespecting their culture and religion
c)resorting to violence to anyone and everyone who speaks out against Chinese policies.
- around 100 Tibetans have already self immolated since 2009, and the number is still increasing.

The Tibetans who have self immolated all had two aims in their mind: 'to change Chinese policy in Tibet; and to raise that policy to the status of a big international issue' (quote the economist). However so far, neither one of these aims have been achieved. Governments are avoiding the topic because it's sensitive and could potentially disrupt their relations with China (think in terms of economics and politics).

I understand that there is nothing much we can do about this, but the least I can do is to spread the news. It's far from happy news but it's an important issue for people to know. So please, take some time to look into this, share the tragedy with your family, friends, acquaintances, and anyone who is unaware of this. I believe in the power of words and number. Please help to spread this, everyone should know about this. This won't be stopping anytime soon, China doesn't show any sign of changing. But if more people knew about this, if more people supported the Tibetans, it might make a difference when the time comes.

Since you apparently can't read, I'll requote it for you; fourth paragraph, 1st line, 1st sentence.

"there is nothing much we can do about this"

Bumping this because this is news that should be heard. I understand that there is nothing we, a group of mostly kids and young adults, can do about this, since this is a very complicated political manner, but at least the word, as you said, should be spread out. Perhaps if enough people know about this and express their displease, then a few nations can stand against this? No? Well, it's a 50-50 chance
