I know it sounds small, but this does concern the very survival of a species:

Weaver set out to determine how to help turtles cross the road. He ended up getting a glimpse into the dark souls of some humans.
Weaver put a realistic rubber turtle in the middle of a lane on a busy road near campus. Then he got out of the way and watched over the next hour as seven drivers swerved and deliberately ran over the animal. Several more apparently tried to hit it but missed.
"I've heard of people and from friends who knew people that ran over turtles. But to see it out here like this was a bit shocking," said Weaver, a 22-year-old senior in Clemson's School of Agricultural, Forest and Environmental Sciences.

That's just sad, really. Not just for the turtles, but for humankind. To think that there'd be people (even if it's just a small number of them) who would think of doing such a thing... but then, it's not that surprising. There are more harmful things that we humans have done, and this is just a tip off the iceberg.

Anyone who would go out of their way just to hit an animals is a dumbass.

Animal cruelty is a beginning sign of a KILLER and sociopath ........ so there might be some issues in that community.

WTH?!?!?! Whenever my brother and I came across a small turtle a few years back, we would stop and bring it to the park to release it and believe me we saved like.... ten of them in two weeks! It was weird, but fun because it was like a mission! :D

We make things out to be five times worse than it is. We would need a ratio of how many drivers there were that didn't try to hit the turtles and the amount that did.

All we know is that the current ratio is ?:7+, which is highly unreliable.
