The stuff mentioned in the OP can unfortunately happen all the time, and it's horrible. Hopefully, she can continue to recover from her injuries and could return to her normal lifestyle as soon possible.
On another note, the link given in

The 17-year old female rushed over to the 15-year old male and pushed his chest, causing him to fall back and strike his back against a metal handrail...", and it basically continues from there.
Given this possible addition of information, it is likely that such an instance was just twisted into this version over rumours and social media like Facebook. More research is needed to see the legitimacy of this story.
So far, I'm not really buying.
