US Sailor Beats Down 2 Japanese: “They Insulted My Girl!” (30)

The American-style chivalry of a US sailor stationed in Japan who beat up two strangers who had the temerity to insult his Japanese girlfriend has been earning much admiration online.
The incident occurred at Motomachi-Chūkagai Station in Yokohama’s Chinatown district at 6AM on Sunday morning, where a 24-year-old petty officer serving with the US Navy in Okinawa was on the platform with his girlfriend.
A pair of 27-year-old Japanese part time workers began an altercation with him, at which point he assaulted them, causing them injuries of varying severity, including a broken nose.
The sailor claims the two men were drunk and started to insult his Japanese girlfriend – “they insulted her in unforgivable ways, so I became angry” – causing him to lose his temper and beat them down.
Police arrested him at the scene and have charged him with assault.
What exactly they said to her to enrage him so has not been revealed, although there is some suspicion they were impugning her honour for being with either a foreign barbarian or, worse yet, a US serviceman.
There has been a forgiving reaction from that great bastion of tolerance and international goodwill which is the Japanese Internet:
“Not guilty.”
“Forgiveable.”
“Give him a break, I’d do the same in his position.”
“Wait, aren’t you guys always calling girls who open their legs for foreigners bitches and fleshpots?”
“Even 2 on 1 the yank whoops them. As expected of our white pig masters.”
“A US soldier who’s really looking out for his girl! Wonderful!”
“Pretty cool, I bet his girl is pleased, if not moist.”
“Not much point in taking the half-baked insults of drunks seriously. Best just to ignore them.”
“They probably called her a ‘bitch’ or something [lately popular amongst Japanese but with the meaning of 'slut']. A yank could understand that so no wonder he flipped.”
“Were this pair really Japanese, to be picking a fight with an American like that?”
“The soldier is in the right. Of course you’d be angry if someone insults your girlfriend.”
“Any girl would fall for someone doing this!”
“They probably learned ‘bitch’ off the Internet and tried it on his girl, not really surprising he lost it.”
“Perhaps ‘how much did you pay for her?’ or ‘whores like you shame the Japanese’?”
“Some scumbag part-time losers who think they can go around insulting strangers, then play the victim card when they get called out on it.”
“When you see some ugly girl dating a white with a smug look on her face you want to call her out on it, although nobody says anything usually.”
“The only Japanese girls who end up with foreigners are the disgusting left-overs nobody else would have.”
“Compare to the Japanese guys who just lose it on 2ch when their favourite anime character is insulted…”

Wow this is pretty interesting. Personally I think that both parties are in the wrong. The soldier should've just ignored them and left with his girlfriend. And the two drunks had no business insulting her for dating an American.

I say way to go. A man should stand up for his gal.

Also, lol at the 2chan line.

Any other sources? I tried googling for others since this site doesn't seem like the most reliable...:/

No offense to the nude/mostly nude girls/anime girls at the bottom of the page...

If it's true, I admire the sailor for standing up for his girl but violence wasn't the way to go(in my opinion).

Well, if you can read moonrunes, here's the link that Sankaku has: http://news.tv-asahi.co.jp/ann/news/web/html/220819025.html

That reliable enough for you?

>>8 Sorry, I was just wondering. It just didn't seem like the most reliable source and I wanted to know if there were other articles to back this one up, because, like I said, I did a basic google search and couldn't find anything. I apologize for not noticing the link that they had on their page.

Lol. This reminds me of a clip on Tosh.O where some assholes elbowed a girl in the chest when sh was walking in the park with her boyfriend. Ling story short, the boyfriend was a boxer and beat the crap out of the two guys.

>>11 Loved that episode

And I need to find this guy and marry him.Chivalry is apparently still alive and punching drunk bastards in the face!

Oh yes, punching drunk people is definitely chivalrous! If they were sober n did this, sure Id see why the guy punched em out. But they werent, they were drunk, keyword drunk. Not buzzed, but drunk. He shouldve ingnored them.

In this post, we see someone trying to use the term "drunk" as a catch all excuse for regrettable actions and lack of self control.

While being drunk is scientifically proven to lower inhibitions - It is not a black haze of debauchery. You are still perfectly capable of thinking while drunk, and acting accordingly. The only guaranteed impairment of action you'll be getting out of it is miscoordination. Tested and proven, as well personal experience.

If you do not exercise the ability to think while drunk, simply because you are drunk, then you deserve a beating regardless of whether you did anything else or not.

And you personally need to be smacked for implying your implications.

Yes I was using it as a catch all, but i still find it incredibly annoying that this guy is being praised for what he did. If I need to be smacked for this belief, then so be it. Im not making any plans to change my feelings about this mans actions.

The journalists must have been drunk, Sleepology. Instead of respond to them, you should have just ignored them.

Even negative publicity is publicity afterall, and to a writer - That's praise.

There are number of things that no one really like: Drunks and assholes are in those lists. In this article, we read about a man beating down drunks and assholes because of a token excuse he had regarding defending his girlfriend's honor or what not.

Specifically in a culture where manners and extreme reaction to lack of manners is more or less a staple.

The fact it's getting praised seems brutally logical here, unless I've just missed something entirely.

>>16 They crossed a line they shouldn't have, and they paid the price. If someone calls my girl a slut, drunk or not, I'll give them 3 seconds to apologize to her and leave. If they stick around, I'm punching him in the face. Action and consequence, that's all it is.

And now he will go to Captain's Mass for assaulting a Japanese national. Doesn't matter if hes innocent or not; once you hit a Japanese national and the Navy finds out about it your done. Maybe he'll get lucky and only go to DRB, but yea he will get some kind of punishment. How do I know this? Because I see it happen all the time on Yokosuka base; it's fucking stupid but that's how big Navy sees things.

20 Name: ISeeThingsInGray : 2012-08-24 20:24 ID:elktS2pn [Del]

The phrase parity in the right and completely in the wrong apply here from some peoples view the Japanese where in the right while others in the wrong and the same apply to the the view point of the other petitioner. weather you view it as chivalrousness matters not. the navy get punished for actions like this so both partys will get their dos no reason to figh sleepology, Ayanavi

... I don't know what you're trying to say, but I hate you for brutalizing every piece of logical syntax you tried to implement just now.

if i'm a guy i'll get their names and just write it on my deathnote... problem solved. ._.

but ofcourse if i'm a guy and someone will insult my girl i'll kill 'em XD *though i dun have any idea how XD lol

This is totally an old thread, but I don't really care. Basic ethics say that the guy should have done something, but he went way overboard. There wasn't really a cause for it. If someone insulted my girlfriend, I'd say 'Fuck off,' walk away, and that would be that. No reason to floor a couple of dudes, no matter the place. Not to mention it was a horrible move for him. As stated before, the Navy isn't going to play nice.

I also find this slightly funny. Just sayin.

I'm a girl, so... If anyone insulted my boyfriend (total difference) I'd be "Fuck off or die." Then I would just walk away and not give shit what they did next.

Gentlemen.

The key word is gentle, and this guy wasn't very gentle.

But it's still a pretty brave thing to do.
