Lansing 4th of July... Shooting? (11)

I rarely ever post here ever, but I thought this might interest some of you and I'm curious to hear some speculation:

http://www.wndu.com/news/michigan/headlines/Woman_shot_in_head_dies_before_Lansing_fireworks_161517595.html

In short, a woman was shot during fireworks on the 4th. The twist is that nobody knew she was shot until she made it to the hospital.

And they don't think the shooter was in the park.

I'm calling it now: Jealous ex-marine-sniper-boyfriend.

There's no way that somebody could pull that off by accident.

Lemme hear your thoughts, people!

How...festive?
Nothing says "Go America" like a woman being shot in the head.

...did it come from the sky? It wouldn't be the first time someone got injured from a shot to the sky during fourth of July. Bullets go up, bullets come down. They normally can't kill, but there have been a couple deaths.

I wouldn't doubt it. I mean, everyone who has a gun and loves America fires a shot in the sky during the fireworks. It's illegal, but they do it anyway. (Not around here, admittedly. Gun laws are too strict. My friends in more rural areas are used to it.)

>>3 As far as I know, it's not common in the middle of the capital city of Michigan. Where 100 police officers are stationed. To make sure nobody does stupid shit. In the middle of fireworks...

Yeah that, I almost guarantee you, was not it. It sounds like they think it came from outside the park as a whole - like someone had a rifle.

>>4 They can travel pretty far once they're in the sky; the person could have easily shot it several blocks away and it ended up there. Plus, I don't see why someone would snipe a single person :T If someone's going to take a rifle and start shooting at a crowd, they usually at least try to shoot a few people.

>>5 Hence my money on jealous ex-boyfriend-marine-sniper :D

And I am aware that bullets go far, I'm not unfamiliar with how guns work. Somehow I doubt a 9mm (at best, a .45 would have left a pretty big hole if it hit hard enough to kill) can cause that much damage, from freefall, from being shot several blocks away, and not have been noticed by EMT's. That just comes off as absurd to me ._.

But police officers can't keep any eye on everyone all the time. I still hold it was a handgun, probably a 9mm,and someone had beef with her. Just shoot when the fireworks go off, and depending on how loud the boom is, the gunshot can be incredible difficult to hear.

She probably was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There is a thing called bad timing. People have shot just 1 person before, even if they didn't exactly have it in for them.
