Just so everyone is aware, this happened in Brooklyn, NY, twenty days ago (my current city of residence).
Kardin, fourteen, was attacked by two seventh grade students in the middle of the school cafeteria. The seventh graders "were calling him a 'f-----g f----t,' a 'p----,' a 'transvestite' and 'gay,'" according to the report.
From what I've read, there is no information regarding whether or not Kardin is actually gay. The punks who beat him up caused irreparable damage to his right eye.
The boy's family is suing the city for sixteen million dollars "for failing to properly supervise the students."

Personally, I'm disgusted with all the anti-gay agenda that's being thrown around here in the USA. People are raising their children under the idea that gay people are bad people, and there is absolutely no benefit from doing so. It is simply causing more problems for more generations, not to mention the division among the country. Why can't a man love a man, or a woman love a woman? Because you don't like it? Because it's against your so-called "holy law"? That's ridiculous. That's like getting mad at someone for eating a donut when you're on a diet.

Getting back to the original topic, I wanted to know if anyone was interested in doing a little something for Kardin. What if we each wrote him a letter to support him through this awful event, and encouraged him to keep on keeping on? I could figure out how to collect the letters and find some way to present them to him. This could very well provide an incredible boost of self-esteem for Kardin, which in turn may help build a foundation of confidence for his future.

Who knows, maybe he will really end up being a terrific doctor someday, if that's what he wants. What do you think, Dollars?

I'm definitely in favor.
I'm also quite glad that I'm a thousand miles away from the perpetrators, and thus highly unlikely to do something I'd regret.

This is a great idea :) I wish we wouldn't have to though, what that boy is going through should have never happened. Honestly people, if your going to get your narrow minded nickers in a twist because of your religious views toward gay people. Don't do anything. If "God hates fags" then according to you wouldn't that be the ultimate punishment? So just leave them alone.

This is so sad. My heart goes out to Kardin.
I support this idea. I'd definitely send a letter to the kid.
