Cannibalism is all the rage right now, and the latest sign of the zombie apocalypse is brought to you by the great state of Louisiana, where a man is accused of gnawing his neighbors face, apparently while under the influence of "some kind of drug."

This is now the seventh cannibalism story to make headlines in the last two weeks, and the hype of the ongoing zombie apocalypse has become so widespread that the Centers for Disease Control even issued a statement last week saying that the "CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms)."

The latest flesh-chewer is 43-year-old Carl Jacquneaux, of Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, who is accused of biting off a chunk of his neighbor's face.

According to various local media reports, Jacquneaux went to the home of victim Todd Credeur over the weekend and started fighting with him about a "domestic issue."

During the struggle, Jacquneaux bit off "a chunk" of Credeur's face.

Lucky for him, Credeur managed to fight Jacquneaux off -- he then disabled him by spraying him in the face with wasp spray.

Following the spraying, Jacquneaux scampered off and went to the home of a friend -- whom he held at knife-point after stealing the man's gun.

Police tracked Jacquneaux to the friend's home and took him into custody.

Like Miami "zombie" Rudy Eugene, authorities suspect Jacquneaux was under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack. A female friend of one of the victims told a local TV station she thinks Jacquneaux had taken bath salts, which is what police suspect Eugene had taken prior to eating a man's face.

In all, Jacquneaux was booked on one count each of aggravated burglary, simple battery of the infirm, violation of probation, aggravated second degree battery, and violation of protective orders. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail on a $312,500 bond.

I think I misread what I used. I think Bath Salts used to be a drug, until they deemed it not good for human consumption, and thus released it as BATH SALTS, so legally they could still sell it. If I didn't over look anything, I think it's "mephedrone bath salts", and that is the type they are taking.

but the major detail is that in most of the cases the drug is not mentioned, ive been digging deeper and i cant find any reference to police finding drugs or the presence of them in their system in most of the cases, but should be noted that in 6 of the ones ive read so far the police reports suspected drug use/presence of illegal substance/under influence of.... but none of them have confirmed that it was in the system or found it in the home or cars of the attackers. none the less its time to move on to a new element of the cases

and i left it out but i had noticed the trend towards the head and face as well, i think you are on the right track, its in almost all of the cases, the person who was biting arms throw it off a little bit. you would think if it was just basic attacking instinct you would grab and bite the closest body part(in most cases that would be the arms due to defensive instincts) but there is a clear trend towards the face and neck, it makes sense from a simple logical standpoint, it is a place where there is a lot of blood and little protection from damage, which could lead you to conclude that these people have their wits about them during the act, but i actually have another theory on that: when you close the gap on someone in an attack like that your two bodies are in close proximity if you get within good grabbing distance and your method of attack is a bite, it means that the head and neck is close to your face and it is an object that can be grabbed and pulled closer and held to prevent escape, the victims natural defense mechanism in to grab for the shoulders or bicep and or the head, very seldomly does some one untrained to deal with grappling push an attacker away, so why think the trend towards face biting is so common is because its a obvious choice to attack if you plan to bite someone, its a matter of head placement really

Any modicrum of research into the topic will inform you, from a variety of legitimate sources, exactly what it is. Depending on what articles you find, you might even learn exactly what they do to your body chemically.

If you feel like having your opinion or information respected in the least - be prepared to bring to the table legitimate information and sources of information.

Were actual bath salts once used to get a high? Yes. They have, and can be used for such effects.

Are they the item being discussed here? No. All sources, chemical, scientific, journalistic and otherwise say they aren't. Even the site you linked yourself and had pulled up has an article specifically saying that you're assumption the salts in question are legitimate bath salts is wrong.

The article you link points out that the bath salts being talked about aren't actually legitimate bath salts as well.

It's "marketed" as that, as well as other things, but is in fact not a bath salt. It was never meant for the purpose of being used in the bath, and thus is no more of a "bath salt" as cocaine would be if we had nicknamed that bath salt. It also doesn't make vibrators magically become lightsabers just because they make the same "bzzzt" sound.

I could point out that it's main ingredients have already been identified and fairly solidly placed in the category of "not an actual bath salt", or I could point out that you just said your "direct sources" aren't sure themselves, and actively labeled it something which then was consequently derided as being off base.

And with no way to actually verify any claim of "research" you've managed to do, even the legitimacy of that is in question and honestly doubtful.

These sources I am giving are simply there to show that the commonly accepted belief is that the drug in question is indeed "bath salts" which is any, or a combination of, the chemicals I had previously listed.

I did some research, and while the "Resident Evil" zombies cannot happen like it is shown, there is a parasite already living, that can change and control it's host.

While right now it only does small, minor changes, if they were to genetically enhance it, it can basically create parasitic zombies.
