But seriously, I don't really think it's justifiable to downplay the beating of a baby. While it may be true that some Asian parents do hit their children as a way to discipline them, coming from someone who is half, at least they would have the sense to hit them when they're old enough to at least understand what they've done wrong. And this sort of thing occurs in a lot of ethnicities. It's not just Asians that do this.
Remember that the woman here is beating a baby, not simply slapping a five year-old child. The effects of such maltreatment can often lead to traumatising consequences later in their life.
I'm not so sure about the context of this, but no matter what it is, it's abuse. It's abuse either way because instead of just hitting the child once and being done with it to teach them a lesson, they just continue to cause pain for the baby.
When I watched the video, I found that I could only last one minute of it. It's just a heart-wrenching and nauseating video. I don't think anyone with at least a scrap of humanity in them could stand such a sight and be unmoved by it, to be honest, but that's just what I think.
