A little surprised that this is not already here. But a boy named Trayvon Martin was shot by a self-appointed neighborhood watch captain named George Zimmerman. He said that Trayvon looked suspicious and called the police. After the police told him not to pursue Trayvon, he did it anyway. Zimmerman thought that he looked suspicious because he was walking at night while wearing a hoodie. After following him, there was a scuffle, a cry for help, then a gunshot. Trayvon was killed and Zimmerman claimed self-defense so he was not arrested.

All Trayvon had on him was a bottle of sweet tea and a bag of skittles. Yet when the police questioned Zimmerman, he claimed that he was threatened by a boy who is half his weight. Police believed him and let him go. Meanwhile, Trayvon's body was being tested for drug use.

Am innocent boy was killed for a terrible reason. This is only a slight summary of the situation. You can read more here abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/03/trayvon-martin-case-timeline-of-events/ or just google "Trayvon Martin"

There is also a petition here for George's prosecution http://www.change.org/petitions/prosecute-the-killer-of-our-son-17-year-old-trayvon-martin?utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition&utm_term=friends_wall

I thought someone would post this. This really made me angry George Zimmerman disgusts me. I don't know how you could do this to a child. Not only that but the racism my dad is black so that also ticked me off but just that fact that someone would do this I'm plain pist off. I hope Zimmerman gets what he deserves. I feel sorry for the family who has to go through this pain because of some idiot.

What people have been doing is putting on hoodies and taking pictures with nice comments like "R.I.P Trayvon" or "In honor of Trayvon" I did it on my tumblr and my fcbk. There was a march earlier this week. It doesn't hurt to continue it. It's a simple thing to do. I may put it in the missions blog. I'm just really surprised this isn't blowing up on the site...

How can you do that to a innocent person? He hasn't even started his life yet outside of high school. The supreme court should change the gun law.

With all the new info out about the case you get a better picture of what happened and though I do feel bad for the family the kid attacked the man first who was just going back to his car. Plus there was no racially profiling because Zimmerman didn't know the race of the kid til after he was attacked.
Frankly this whole mess was just an accident that's gotten out of hand and causing many to lose their humanity.
They literally put a bounty on this man's head because he was doing his job as a neighborhood watch.

Though it was stated he followed him first.
It's cause and effect, that is what caused it.

If he didn't follow him, then none of this would have happened.

Also where was this witness before? This has happened and became famous for awhile enough. Long enough for a witness to already have come forward. But all of a sudden, he pops up out of nowhere and states he saw shit. It seems kind of iffy.

Also why the fuck does some guy in a Neighborhood Watch association have a gun? He isn't a fucking cop. A can of mace would've sufficed.

24 Name: ~Amethyst~ : 2012-03-27 14:42 ID:iwHmSDwK [Del]

>>18 well actually, as far as him being a member of the neighborhood watch, he was a self-appointed leader. And my teacher read a report that had the organization saying he was not even a member, let alone a captain.

And to all, as far as the who pinned who deal, well, Authorities told Zimmerman not to follow Trayvon, and he did anyways. Also, he claims self-defense. Well then Trayvon could also claim self-defense. He wasbeing followed, so even if he did confront Zimmerman, he had the right.

Another thing, he followed him for a reason. And he followed him with a gun for a reason. He didn't stalk the kid just to ask him what he was doing. He went after Trayvon prepared to harm him.

Either way you slice it guys, Zimmerman has no excuse for killing him. Bcuz even if Trayvon fought back, which any of us would have done, look who is walking free, and look who never gets to walk again.

This sounds a bit screwy to me. There had to have been some form of previous situation between the two parties mentioned(Treyvon and Zimmerman). That or Zimmerman was drunk off his ass. That might explain the gun.. and the blatant disregard of legal procedure.

29 Name: Kaosu !/cNG.9l1XI : 2012-03-28 13:36 ID:N5ox4VCX [Del]

I don't mean to sound rude, but i love the second it's a black person, the other party (esp. if white) is instantly considered a racist, but when their is a black killer who kills white people it's just a normal thing. Glad to see equality at work. And another thing is that you all say Zimmerman is guilty already, and he may be, but the fact is is that not all the facts are present and everyone is jumping to conclusions way to earlier. Hmm yea this witness coming out late does seem kind of weird but it's not uncommon for witnesses to do that and you can't fake an 911 recording, well you can but that's alot of work for a little thing. Yea Zimmerman thought he looked suspicious and followed him and Trayvon assaulted him and you think he is in the right, really? so next time I'm being looked at suspiciously by a mall cop, a store employee, or someone in my neighborhood I have the right to kick the shit out of them? sweet I'll make sure to get right on that. Trayvon isn't some perfect kid that didn't do anything, he assaulted a man when he could have gone about his business just like most people do. And he was already on academic suspension for drug possession, graffiti and theft. But his parents of course claim that their son isn't that kind of kid and people just want to smear his name all the while they are trying to smear this mans name. So congrats guys good equality search and making sure all facts are present before making judgement. I'm not claiming to say Zimmerman is in the right anyway but I don't think this is as clean cut as people make it.

Zimmerman has some obsessive issue. He has called 911 46 times since January. He is really trying to play cop when he isn't one. And just found an article that has recordings of phone calls. The one made by Zimmerman to police about Trayvon, and others where people called to report the sound of screams and a gunshot
But think about it, he called 46 times. How often do you call 911? He has an issue. And the picture that has become the main image you see of Zimmmerman is a mug shot from 2005. I will say I do not know what he did but that shows that he has been arrested before.

>>29 You're forgetting the part where Zimmerman decided NOT to obey the instructions given to him. We aren't making this a race thing, the evidence all points to Zimmerman being in the wrong. Just because he had probable cause, does NOT mean he has the sudden right to take someone's life. Zimmerman said he was defending himself, but if you saw some guy with a gun walking up to you in the middle of the night as you were minding your own business, what would you honestly do? Personally speaking, I would have beaten Zimmerman within an inch of his life(that would have been BEFORE I knew he was armed).

Even if it was self defense, Treyvon had reason to try and defend himself from a possible aggressor. Besides, Zimmerman had to have been making an awful lot of noise when confronting his "Suspiscious person". 'Yelling white man with a gun... guess I'll just let him kick the shit outta me. Possibly kill me.'

33 Name: YouLeftMe : 2012-03-28 19:37 ID:X3yYOeNF [Del]

>>32 Zimmerman stopped following the boy when the cop asked him to. They only other reason why he continued was to get the location. The kid confronted Zimmerman while he was heading back to his car. The boy also had no problem with violence; earlier in the month he had hit a bus driver. Thus no the kid should have kept going, not only that he was on the phone with his girlfriend instead of calling the cops so if he was really worried about the gun it would be in his call log. They also said the gun went off on accident due to the struggle.

>>30 That was over a years time during which the area was suffering from robberies and drug busts. Thus why it's fenced in now and why there was a night watch. Also he was training too become a police officer. The reason why he has a mug shot is because he tried to help a friend who was being wrongfully arrested.

34 Name: YouLeftMe : 2012-03-28 20:09 ID:5k72dHNf [Del]

>>21 The statements from witnesses were already taken but because the mother took things to the max, news ect ect. Pretty much the news was reporting what the mother said not what the police report thus why now you hear about witnesses. And he was a cop in training so he had a gun license for a weapon and they've had a string of robberies and shoot outs thus yes the gun was necessary and being suspicious of the kid who was walking around at night.

Teen and man fight. Teen dies.
Becomes famous, world wise news.
Witnesses and facts come in like a month or more AFTER.

No matter if the mother was taking it to the max, it's the cops duty to report the stuff as soon as it happened. Why should we believe it now?

Why does it magically make a difference when it happened like a month after? It doesn't take that long for cops to show the reports. The news doesn't MAGICALLY make the cops back off and WAIT, either.

Also they wouldn't hold off on saying that shit, if they reported in on it when it happened. It is too big of a story, for them to hold out on the cop's information.

It's a very suspicious thing, that it just now got reported.

Believe it or not, but that is more logical than this bullshit you're saying.

I'm white, a teenager and have had store employees come up to me constantly asking if I need help with anything. Not to be nice but just to keep an eye on me, it's not how I look or act. And I do not want to focus on this as a race thing really because i believe Zimmerman is half hispanic (?) My only issue i that 1. I just read a report that had the person who prepared Trayvon to be buried saying that he had no sign of having fought with someone. That is, his knuckles were not bruised or anything like that that would happen if you punched someone. And the report of when Zimmmerman first got to the station was released. He had no injuries.
And honestly, they expect me to believe that Zimmerman was "pinned down" with Trayvon's knees (which is what Zimmerman's father said)? He is twice as big as the kid and Trayvon does not look like he packing any major muscle. How could he have over powered a man twice as big as him? I just don't buy it.

The media should have just stayed out of this case, they have politicized it far too much. Now everyone is going to have some screwed up opinion on the case, and you won't have a fair trial where evidence is the key factor. Instead the jury will probably be basing their decision off their emotions and from which side they first heard it from instead of basing it off the evidence presented during the trial.

53 Name: Ikaros : 2012-04-12 20:13 ID:uKCO1sVU [Del]

>>53 Thats not the point, the point is that the jury (which is picked randomly) will come into the case already having some sort of predetermined idea of his guilt or innocence. The trial is going to be biased one way or the other.

>>57 I personally don't think he was anywhere as innocent as most people around me portray him to be.
I'm aware that there is practically no trial that has been unbiased, but the media has undoubtedly made this much worse than it would be if they had let it run its course. They were just hunting for an issue and made a huge one where it was not needed.

59 Name: Kenthian : 2012-04-13 18:09 ID:mvU15lvu [Del]

Personally... I don't think either of them were in the wrong.

Zimmerman:
Called it in, has witness that there was a 'tussle', was going to car, had a gun... shot the poor kid.

Martin:
Wears black hoodie at night in a 'gated' neighborhood (who doesnt wear a black hoodie? nothing special really... and I got through gated areas as short cuts all the time, nothing wrong) and he called it in that a guy was following him.

My View:
One guy follows the other to see what he does, the other thinks hes being stalked and notices a gun and called his gf saying hes probably screwed... One of them finally acts... Martin tries for the gun so he doesnt end up on the dead side of the fight, Zimmerman gets lucky and keeps the gun shoots the kid , saved his life (maybe) and got a few scars and blood everywhere.

The scream not being zimmerman's issue:
Well... everyone can scream: good guys, bad guys, innocent bystanders, and the random neutral guys...

Zimmerman could have more or less yelled, noticing that he might get killed.
Martin could have yelled seeing as how he didn't win the fight for the gun and he knows his life is at its sorry little end.
Does it matter whose yell/scream it was?

Right now... I'm impartial. I think neither were in the wrong.

That's what the media does. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_influence)
Mass media controls what it wants people to see and what it doesn't, ie. a 12yr old angelic picture of Trayvon and mugshot of Zimmerman. There will never be a day when the media stops trying to control public opinion.
