Canadian scientists have discovered a shockingly simple cure for cancers, including lung, breast, and brain cancers. It utilizes "dichloroacetate", a medicine which is currently being used to treat metobolic disorders. The drug doesn't require a patent, is cheaper, and is easier to distribute than other drugs. However, seemingly because of these virtues, large drug companies are not jumping on the band wagon. A large sum of money can't be made because the drug cannot be privately patented.

See the article above for more information, also linked
here.

Some supplemental.

It's heavily experimental, and in some cases actually makes the growth of cancerous cells worse. However, it has a lot of potential and is in fact well publicized and has received a fair amount of funding.

It is currently undergoing formal testing.

Awesome! I'm glad they may have found a cure. The girls in my family (I happen to be one) on my mom's side tends to get cancer at an early age, so this could be what saves my life one of these days! Even if the cancer gene thingy skips a generation, I'm screwed, so I sure hope this thing actually works!!

I'm skeptical. It's not the first time I've seen a rather sensational title like this. I'm hoping something substantial comes out of this but at the moment I'm just looking at it as a carrot on a stick.

Though it might be a simple cure now, but it might have a bit of a side effect/backfire on the person who takes it. It might, it's just an opinion.

Scientists also found the breast milk can kill cancer. However, this isn't researched either because the drug companies can't make money. Money > Human Lives, apparently. (You can read more at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/7611360/Breast-milk-kills-cancers-claim-scientists.html)

>>13 wow are you some kind of stupid? Did you actually read the article you linked, or did you just read the title n automatically think that nobody uses it because it wont make money. So frustrating I cant even come up with a decent rebuttle.

>>14 Did you read my post? I clearly stated that drug companies won't research the effects because they can't make money. If you read the article, you would know that universities are researching the effects, not drug companies. Also, this article (and most articles on the subject) was published over 2 years ago, and that research remains stagnant because of the lack of interest. I don't understand your frustration.

I have also watched a documentary about someone who discovered a cure for brain cancer, but in stead of being praised, he was constantly harassed by officials for no reason other than the medical industry bribed them. As I recall, it was a substance found in your blood and pee that flipped on the gene that attacked tumor growth.
If I am spelling it correctly, I think they are called antineoplastons. Anyway...

If they keep this up, they just might find cures for all cancers!:D

>>17 I think that the method I mentioned was only especially effective in brain cancer, but you could look it up. I'm not entirely sure.

Did anyone else first think of Hetalia when it said Canadian scientists cure cancer, but know one notices? Hehe...no? Well anyways I thank you for posting this, my mom has cancer.

Drug Companies need to quit looking just at $$$ and start trying to help people like they were always meant to do.

I heard about this as well. Sadly, it can't be helped right now. The fact is that too much money is made off of cancer. If there is a cheap cure, it wont be distributed. Sadly, I can't think of a solution for this.

This is just the news being stupid again.
There is no such thing as Cancer. What I mean is Cancer is a name given to a collection of thousands of diseases that all share similar workings.
Everytime the news throws out a sensational headline about Cancer being cured what they actualy mean (although dont tell people) is that a small handful of the large mountain of cancers have had cures found for. None of these cures are large sweeping cures for the entire cancer group. To put it simply when they say they cured breast cancer, for example, what they mean is they found a cure for a small section of the hundreds of breast cancer variants.
Although this is still really good news if it passes safety tests.

>>23 A cancer is like any tumor, except it's a cancerous tumor. Hence being called cancer. It is just a growth in the body that has a risk of affecting your well being. There are many types, and different cures will be needed in the end, but one cure can encompass many types, and several cancers are directly linked to one another. Like breast cancer and brain cancer. A big threat of breast cancer is the possibility of it going to your brain. I don't know the science behind this phenomena, but I've seen enough people die from breast cancer turning into brain cancer to know it's damn common amongst breast cancer patients. However, its obvious that their being linked in cause are most likely linked in cure.

Don't take my words as fact, though; I'm no scientist.
