1 Name: Shell Shock : 2012-01-31 19:43 ID:2Jdjw859 [Del]

So Mickey D's is finally getting rid of the 'pink slime' it's been using for who knows how long.

(if this is in anyway in the wrong thread or has been posted already, I'll delete it)

This isnt in the wrong board, but as a heads up when doing stuff like this its probs best to give a bit more background info, because i really have no idea what "pink slime" is.

"Pink slime is a colloquial term for ammoniated boneless lean beef trimmings or similar products, which are considered "unfit for human consumption" until ammonia has been added"

A lil summary of what it is used for is in the article as well.

Ammonia...it's what's for dinner!
And this is why my family purchases half a cow (we split it with another family) and has a local butcher carve it up. Relatively inexpensive fresh meat with no chemicals added to the meat itself is definitely the way to eat.

If it's not safe, then legally they can be forced to not serve it anymore, obviously. One call to the right people, and then the right to keep it isn't up to them anymore.

Herp..I read this yesterday (see post number 9). I had to buy lunch at school and was reluctant to eat it.

A friend of mine found coffee-brown slime in his chicken nugget at school today. Told him about this story and he threw that mofo out right away.

Pft, it's not pink slime if it's brown.

Clever move, McDonald's.

>>23 Most people would eat there more, now that there isn't any more pink slime... Implying that you actually prefer the slime in your food confuses me.

True story, by the way. I spoke with my managers about it, and I'm pretty happy with the change.
