Wussification of America (41)

1 Name: Daisuke : 2012-01-30 05:59 ID:DwVUshHh [Del]

A seventeen year old is now charged with assault for throwing a snowball and in another town a six year old is charged with sexual assault by just playing tag! What is happening to the U.S?First they try to explain it by changing words and crap and then they go on and complain on a little thing.Tag is an innocent game for one, and the seventeen year old in New York, well in the police report they said it as a "missile."What the heck is this crap!?A snowball is a SNOWBALL people!!!!

Guys, stop blaming the US, god damnit. You say it like the entire country is run off of stupidity, when these are case-by-case examples of flagrant stupidity due to its citizens. The only stupid thing is that it trusts its citizens not to abuse the laws too much - nobody makes the laws with the thought in mind that people can sue for throwing snowballs, because nobody foresaw that anyone would be enough of a wuss to do so.

>>4 Completely unrelated.

6 Name: Kumo!NC09qbtR1Q : 2012-01-30 12:53 ID:K5fwFkqu [Del]

>>5 good point. People sue other people for ridiculous reasons, if people could go five minutes without suing for fucking falling down and not really getting hurt and stop charging people with assault for throwing a pillow at them, things would be different and there would be no need for laws like this.

7 Name: Visce : 2012-01-30 15:49 ID:DzJaPj4C [Del]

I feel like a lot of it is probably greed... like Kumo said, there are so many people trying to sue for the smallest things. And if they get the right lawyer, they can actually succeed since things might "technically" count as assault, even if no one else would sue over it.

8 Name: Rieg !ZW5PizsNSw : 2012-01-30 18:35 ID:l8TrI2WO [Del]

>>5 still you got admit people in general are getting to be pretty "for lack of a better word" lame. I mean really, only wuss's would sue for crap like that.

9 Name: Lt. Dodger : 2012-01-30 19:58 ID:Fef8nyBW [Del]

ITT: People jumping on the "lol America" bandwagon.

I hope you guys know this kind of stuff happens in many other countries, lol.

Really? They should come to LA. Get shot at, sue them, and then get shot at again for snitching.

11 Name: KuroShiroi : 2012-01-31 10:04 ID:EpdSjWaF [Del]

this just ridiculus. seems like any American can press charges or sue for just about anything. And its not like anyone would sue because they hurt anyone, it seems like people just press charges just for the money. i mean seriosly WTF people?

My patriotism is being lowered minute by the minute... ._. This is really sad... My friend even told me that her brother had been pressed charges for sexual assault... after poking a girl's shoulder.

First the "redneck, gun shooting, stupid Americans" stereotype, then the "fattest country" title, and now this. America seriously needs to buck up.

15 Name: *insertnamehere*!!mhJDjCwh : 2012-01-31 18:10 ID:l/znW6vk [Del]

Fat, pussy, redneck, gun shooting, stupid Americans.

Yep, I'd say that fit us quite well.

But then there's the question:
Would you rather live in a country in which anyone can try to sue for anything?

Or a country that gives you no right to a fair trial to begin with?

18 Name: Misuto!M4ZBq07Cs. : 2012-01-31 19:31 ID:h8sRJs+X [Del]

No system of government is perfect. Every nation has its flaws, in its own ways. Ours just happens to be the result of giving the people too many freedoms, but some prefer it this way than what Yatahaze pointed out.

>>13 A flawed statement. The number should be far greater than 1/4, and South Park should and does acknowledge this! It's more around, at least 1/2 of everybody.

Sort of related to this thread:
It really annoys me when people have such bad food-phobia that they throw out their milk as soon as it hits the best before date. Unless it smells bad, it's not gonna make you sick. Or if their leftovers are in their fridge for more than a day.

What the fuck's an immune system for anyway?

Smelling bad isn't the only sign. People's bodies react differently to something that may be on the day it expires, than some.

Wait, how is this related to the thread?

hmm, the police really let their guard down-_-

38 Name: Handle : 2012-02-06 05:25 ID:VFXXbUfM [Del]

First reaction: OH GOD, WTF?

Then I thought, this kind of thing happens in a lot of places. It's not just the US. Instead of going "HEY, WTF AMERICA?", go all "HEY, WTF PEOPLE OF THE WORLD?". Shit happens. These people may have less sense than a can of soup, but at least we have that majority of the planet who know the difference between sexual assault and a game of tag.

So hence my second reaction: Pffff, lol.

Americans are the most "selfish" people I have ever meet. Well I have only been to Canada, Peru, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia (Malaysians are great people), but it seems most of the world is a lot better than Americans. They just want to sue and get money; they don't care who they fuck in the proses. It's up to the future generation to fix this country; I have to put all my faith in them.

40 Name: Kumo!NC09qbtR1Q : 2012-02-07 15:58 ID:K5fwFkqu [Del]

>>39 the question then becomes "how do we deter future generations from being tempted to repeat the stupid bullshit that is going on today?" should we abolish petty lawsuits? sure we can get courts to settle disputes, but should someone be awarded $100,000 for stubbing a toe on a chair?

i mean, sure, some of these cases are legitimate and/or disgusting, and some people honestly DO deserve compensation for some of the more extreme cases of negligence on the part of the offender, but should there be such a gross comensation for mild discomfort?

If i find a severed human finger in my can of beans, should i get a million dollars for it? a lifetime supply of "sorry, we fucked up" beans? or should the only thing i get merely be possible medical checkups in case the finger got me sick and maybe possible therapy sessions due to the fact that i just found a fucking finger in my can of beans? i think lawsuits are taken way too far sometimes. "we were playing tag, and someone could have gotten hurt or touched in the boob, blah blah blah, blah." did something ACTUALLY happen? is someone REALLY hurt or mentally scarred? no? then no harm done. until something ACTUALLY HAPPENS should there be a minimal compensation by the offending party, but only enough to cover the actual damage done by that event.
