Yes, this should be, I remember watching some stupid rap video from Megavideo about it.
Or maybe it was just promoting megaupload, idk.

To prove how real this is, a group who don't own any 'file sharing sites' should take it upon themselves to make something like megabox. Same concept, different name, same goal. Then release it tp the public. If the Government doesn't shut it down, it's not the real reason.

If they do, it is true. Because it wouldn't be illegal. They couldn't find you 'pirating' stuff in any way, shape, fashion and/ or form. All they would do is TRY to make you shut it down.

Some group should take this type of project up.

They were shut down due to piracy according to the goverment.

And you believe them?

This was probably the cover up for the real reason, which is stated in the above image.

...Granted this is all true.

I'm not 100% sure if I believe it but hey, whatever works. It seems credible enough. So I'll take people's word that the MegaBox thing is the reason, unless I have another reason to doubt it, which at the moment I do not.

Anon had nothing to fucking do with it, moron.

Why the hell would the Anonymous shut down a site like MU? The reason it's down because of the SOPA/PIPA bullshit.

Reason it's down is because what is stated in the fucking picture. SOPA is just a scapegoat. Nothing more. The reason it's down is to keep them from making Megabox. READ the damn image.

>>6 Agreed. Someone needs to make that site.

There is such corruption in this world, it sickens me. Someone needs to make this and soon. Megabox should be produced.

Take a second to consider another angle. MegaUpload was already on the chopping block for the government to take it down. Right before this is to happen, there's this release of info about this brand-new great program designed to be a win-win for the artists and the listeners. Obviously this program couldn't be classified as infringement, so it makes me think that maybe this new MegaBox was just too little too late, and wasn't able to save MegaUpload from being killed because its past record of infringement was just too much to be redeemable. My point: MegaBox couldn't make up for the fact that MegaUpload DID commit huge breeches of copyright law before the good change could be made.

White Knighting for the Government? A new low.

No, it's not white knighting, you troll. I'm not defending the government by saying that it may not have been the tentative release of MegaBox that caused MegaUpload being shut down. Don't try to make me look bad when all I'm presenting is a theory. You can't deny that MegaUpload was already on the list to being shut down even before MegaBox came out.

Circus does raise a legitimate point, Thiamor. I heard the campaign against megaupload has been waged for around 2 years already now, this may very well have been a coincidence. Even if it was the tipping point, and incentive for them to pull all the stops, it was already "on the chopping block."

To be honest, I don't see why the government would take such issue with megabox to begin with. If we run under the assumption that they're just really overtly concerned about the music industry's direction, to the point they infringed on laissez-faire more than they already do, then maybe it's plausible. But I kind of doubt this.
