ACTA (38)

1 Name: Tahu !iowiV1fK2g : 2012-01-22 12:28 ID:z2sKjliz [Del]

I just heard it few minutes ago, they said this one is far troublesome than SOPA, it called ACTA ,
well here is the better explanation for this :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement#Requests_for_disclosure

http://www.stopacta.info/

2 Name: Tahu !iowiV1fK2g : 2012-01-22 12:32 ID:z2sKjliz [Del]

uh well this is qoute from stopacta.info : "ACTA is an international trade agreement currently negociated by the European Union, the United States, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Australia as well as a few other countries, whose aim is to enforce copyright and tackle counterfeited goods (hence its acronym: Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement).
The main problem with this treaty is that all the negociations are done secretely. Leaked documents show that one of the major goal of the treaty is to force signatory countries into implementing anti file-sharing policies under the form of three-strikes schemes and net filtering practices."

what are you think about this one? this is the first time i heard about it and the truth i'm still confuse about this

3 Name: Misuto!M4ZBq07Cs. : 2012-01-22 12:39 ID:zIwT0ulX [Del]

It's just as bad, if not worse than SOPA and PIPA were.. And it's international.

For all those that were fervent in stopping the other two, we're going to have to be even more firm in the opposition of this one. Spread the word and sign petitions, please - the timeframe is even shorter this time around, potentially.

4 Name: Tahu !iowiV1fK2g : 2012-01-22 13:04 ID:z2sKjliz [Del]

and i thought after SOPA got postponed thing will be get calmer..
as far i can find this the only place i found for petition :
http://www.petitiononline.com/stopacta/petition.html

8 Name: Bread!BREADU25mg : 2012-01-22 18:31 ID:Bo9oBaBy [Del]

Are you serious now?

There's also NDAA 2012 that people are freaking out about. People also appear to be crying out for Anonymous to help. It actually makes me pretty sad. If something is happening to US, the people, then ALL of us have to step up. We can't rely on some super-hackers to save the day all the time, y'know.
I guess that's just me though.

Revolution, Huzah! United as One, Divided by Zero. Expect us.
(God, that's still badass every time I read it.)

SOPA's gone,
PIPA's out of mind.
Our internet be free
But it's a matter of time.

A matter of time
Before they try
To take it away
To make the Net hit the hay

I won't stand for this again
Are you with me, my friend?
Just look over the horizon
This war won't be subsidin'

A new enemy has risen
From the ashes of SOPA and PIPA
Now I know most of you be wishin'
To know the name, it's ACTA

Another enemy to strip
Our lovely, free Net
They want in their grip
They'll do anything I bet.

The corporations, greedy
And their partners the same
All because of Mr Seedy
Who doesn't play their game

I say unite my friends
And come join me, now
Let's show them we won't bend
And let's show them how.

Damnit why cant they just leave the internet alone what the hell is their problem! Its not a government creation so they shouldnt control it!
Mayhem will break if any of these pass.

13 Name: Rieg !ZW5PizsNSw : 2012-01-23 13:28 ID:tllo6P/k [Del]

If they pass there will probably be some major revolts, and hacker attacks.

14 Name: Master-sama : 2012-01-23 17:08 ID:yEBLDUXQ [Del]

12>> To answer your question, big corperations want to control what we do on the internet so that we can only see what they want us see.To make us buy their products and the government wants to get the bill out there so they can control what we see to, so they can sever the connection to certain blog, videos, etc, so we won't see what's really going on out there. So we can only see the things that they want us to see. It's basically a plot to keep us under the dark and in their control.

15 Name: BarabiSama!!C8QPa1Mt : 2012-01-23 18:01 ID:geOczWhA [Del]

>>14 ...are you an idiot? The big corporations are the ones that are being affected. Why would they boycott this otherwise? The government wants to control the internet, sure, but what you said is mostly conspiracy theory. There's no proof to any end of that arguement. We don't know what the governments true reasons are; that is, if their goals aren't the point-blank "stopping pirating" idea.

16 Name: Socks !CTOykyu6cw : 2012-01-25 22:50 ID:rnJItPoh [Del]

Heard ACTA passed, but I can't find any proof, so I refuse to believe it and that people are just over reacting to some shit. Anyone else hear anything or have proof that is has.

So far my Google attempts have turned up nothing new so don't suggest that as it's already been done.

I heard about ACTA. It will definitely suck if this goes into effect, considering it's a tighter leash.

I do not believe we have to worry about this ACTA thing. We've already been through one hurdle. They couldn't come up with something else this quick. Look it up here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement#Treaty_content

This is the best information I've found about the treaty.
