A pair of Taiwanese students were found stabbed to death in their blood-drenched Tokyo dormitory, having come to Japan to learn Japanese and study anime, it is reported.
The two female Taiwanese exchange students, aged 22 and 24, were studying Japanese in Tokyo. One had come to Japan intent on “studying anime.”
Their school was alerted to the fact that something might be amiss after two male Taiwanese students who had been due to go on a trip with them to Hokkaido reported they were not answering their phones, and the school soon sent someone to investigate.

The pair was found at the dormitory they had been staying at, owned by the Intercultural Institute of Japan and situated in Tokyo’s Taito ward – near Akihabara.
One was found collapsed in the entrance to her room, whilst the other was lying on a bed inside. The room was said to be “covered in blood.” The attack apparently occurred late the previous evening.
Police say they both died from blood loss after being stabbed in the throat, each being the victim of a dozen or more stab wounds, with one being found dead and the other expiring after arriving at hospital.
Investigators have not been able to recover the murder weapon or the keys to the residence.
No suspects are currently being held, although the father of one of the victims says he suspects an acquaintance must be responsible as nobody else would have had easy access to their room, whilst police have apparently found suspect blood stains in the room of a male Taiwanese student in the same building. Police are looking for him.
The pair were described as “cute girls with lots of friends who studied as hard as they could.”
The incident has understandably caused a media furore in Taiwan, and Taiwanese authorities have requested and received full cooperation from the Tokyo police in their investigations. Bereaved family members have also travelled to Tokyo to oversee matters.

What does the part about studying anime have anything to do with this.

>>2 Lol yeah, that's what I'm wondering about as well. The title implied that they were killed because one came to study anime, but it didn't say that anywhere on the article posted here.

>>2 The most annoying part is that all the Japanese newspapers mention it. "She came to Japan to study anime". I'm like "What the hell?" I'm sorry if the title doesn't please you.

That's pretty horrible; I hope they find the murderer quickly.
Also, what a misleading title. They were in Japan studying Japanese; Anime has nothing to do with it.

Maybe because it is good to know WHY they went down their in the first place? People could be wondering 'Why the fuck did they go down their in the first place!?"

19 Name: Rikka : 2012-01-08 17:24 ID:tHLIqWdE [Del]

Man.. the reason why I get seriously freaked out is, not only the fact that they were stabbed repeatedly, but was there a motive? was there any reason? or just a maniac on a roll? >.< Poor girls..

20 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-01-08 20:24 ID:lOrRCTZD [Del]

Even if there was a motive, it's irrelevant. There is no possible motive that would be deemed as 'passable' and/ or 'okay'. They are automatically a maniac. No matter what was discovered as to WHY they had done so.

21 Name: Lt. Dodger : 2012-01-08 22:28 ID:NVvtPM0P [Del]

>>18>>20 Lol, why are you defending an article that used a loosely written title to lure in readers?

And why is irrelevant to report the criminal's motive just cause you think the people's reactions will be the same regardless? Or do you not realize that journalism is not just some form of entertainment, but also a source of information like these?

22 Name: Xissx : 2012-01-08 22:54 ID:0DO8eFhm [Del]

I didn't bother reading this because the title seemed kinda dumb (I mean who studies anime?) But Since I seems to be sparking something I guess I will give it a read.

23 Name: Xissx : 2012-01-08 22:57 ID:0DO8eFhm [Del]

Okay done that's really sad to hear. But still who studies Anime that's like cartons. you could of said studying animation.

...Did you just imply that the reason those two girls were there was entirely relevant to this case, but that the motive for their murder was entirely irrelevant?

Pardon my inquiry, but what the fuck is wrong with you

26 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-01-09 15:04 ID:lOrRCTZD [Del]

I am saying who cares why they killed them? They killed them nonetheless, so no matter what reason they may have had, won't save the killer(s), nor make anyone feel any differently on the matter.

People died. Murdered. So it doesn't matter why they were killed, because they were KILLED.

27 Name: Misaki : 2012-01-09 17:29 ID:CgGaUkVN [Del]

You don't study anime, you watch it. This case seems like a hoax to me, no offense to the people who believe this

HAH!

Hoax my ass. You can pull that off with the poorly written shit here, but there's a link of proof at the bottom of it.

Also, maybe they wanted to become animators or had a job in that field. Maybe they wanted to learn on how to make it, so yes, you can study anime. However, I guesssssssss you're not wrong to doubt them, I actually did too at first, but apparently it's real.
HurrDurr :D
^That's just another link I found that looked more reliable.

The actual NEWS isn't going to lie about it.
Also you can study Anime. Japanese Anime is a more or less STYLE it's done in. Based also on their culture. You can study it.

Sigh.. I apologize for the misleading title. I was in a rush, when i posted this. I found it on Sankaku complex, so yeah. Forgive me.

As you can see from one of the other posts. The suspect they were looking for was caught by the police. He confessed to his crimes and committed suicide shortly after.

>>26 You didn't answer my question. If you're going to play devil's advocate, at least be consistent!

It's a shame that, if he really was the killer, we'll have no idea why he did it now. Another case of unexplained, random-ass murder.

32 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-01-10 09:51 ID:msHLtvZZ [Del]

18 has no connection to 20. It was just replying to another person.

20, was just stating I don't care what motives he had, because he still killed 2 people.

I didn't say the motive was irrelevant to the case. I said it's irrelevant what the motive IS, in my opinion, because murder us still murder.

>>34 If they leave the world, it IS their time.

It's life, some people die old and some people are meant to die young.

37 Name: Misuto!M4ZBq07Cs. : 2012-01-12 17:25 ID:h8sRJs+X [Del]

>>32 I meant you implied it by being inconsistent with your thoughts, which leads me to believe you were just being contrary for the sake of it, rather than for a reason, with unintended consequences.

But I think the moment's too far gone to question what your thoughts were at the time anymore, so I won't push it further. OP already responded about the title already too, so my previous post no longer holds relevance either.

Finally on topic, I have nothing to say to this that hasn't already been said: It's a terrible occurrence, they didn't deserve to die, that guy was a colossal dickwad, etc etc. It really is a pity he committed suicide too quickly for a motive to be wrung out of him, but his life was, for all intents and purposes, over once the police had caught him in the first place.

38 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-01-12 23:38 ID:msHLtvZZ [Del]

His life was over the moment he decided "I'm going to kill people."

The moment you plan it, the moment you're not worthy to walk among other people. May that be in jail (Prison, an Insane Asylum, or whatever), or being dead.

Also, let me add this:

There is no justification that WE need to KNOW about. It won't change the fact they are dead, and it won't make him seem any BETTER if we had known his motives. He'd only be seen as 'worse off'. Which still wouldn't change anything other than, "oh god! We know he is officially crazy, now!"

People are too uppity in wanting to know why. Who the fuck CARES why? All we need to know is this psychopath killed 2 innocent people. What reasons he may have had, are irrelevant the moment he decided to kill them. The reasons mean jack shit. He was still fucked anyway.
