Bangkok -Flood waters have mostly spared Thailand's capital city, but surrounding cities are sunk. Record-breaking monsoon rains have left several cities under more than 4 feet of water. More than 400 people have died since the flooding began in July, and an estimated 2 million people have been affected by a deluge. Health officials are worried about the spread of disease. "The water... is a filthy black color containing sewage, garbage, and dead animals. Mosquitoes are breeding rapidly," says Bangkok resident Igor Prahn. The economic impact of the flooding is catastrophic. Thailand's Ministry of Finance reports that the flooding caused more than $6 billion in damage. Officials suspect the waters will take more than a month to recede.
