WHAT THE FUCK? WHY IS THIS EVEN AN OPTION?!
4CHAN is currently shut down?!

http://americancensorship.org/

The United States Government is denying YOUR right to information. This is illegal and highly constitutional. Sites such as FACEBOOK,YOUTUBE,MYSPACE,FLKR,TWITTER are under jurisdiction to be shutdown/ monitored and edited by the Government. Fight for your right to information and usage of the internet.

WEBSITES LIKE THIS COULD BE POSSIBLE TERMINATED. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION!

2 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2011-11-16 16:16 ID:aJO+t5// [Del]

1. 4Chan has been under controversy for YEARS due to both digital piracy and child pornography. Calling it "censorship" is sidestepping the issue.

2. Facebook, Youtube, MySpace, etc. will not be shut down unless they fail to terminate copyrighted material (IE: removing videos flagged as copyright infringement), which they already do. This bill does not change anything. If you read the actual text of the bill it explains these things quite clearly. You can find the bill here.

i think that the whole censorship of the internet, at least in 4chan's case, would most likely be due to things considered to be illegal, such as the child pornography within 4chan, aside form that they seem to be going after "trademark violations". What do they define as a trademark violation? can i not post pictures of company logos or characters? or is it just a normal sort of trademark violation where i can not financially gain from the creation of another person? pirating is another thing they are really going after, but the problem is that the servers containing the pirated music are located in other countries, so the US censorship could possibly cut off our access to people from other countries. before i make any judgments though, i would like to see a link that specifically shows WHAT the government is trying to censor.

highly UNCONSTITUTIONAL*

4chan has shut down cp rings though? and i have been on 4chan forever. They ban users for CP and delete the threads in almost a blink of an eye

i say revolution! lol but in all seriousness, this is a law that can not be passed, not only because it violates rights we are guaranteed as americans, but also because it could actually make much of the population revolt, causing danger to innocent people

Calm down lol. This is currently just a bill; it's not law yet. I highly doubt such a stupid law that violates various freedoms and rights will be approved.

This post hurt to read, both the lack of punctuation and the stating of generic information which has been true since the internet started.

We need less cushy padding for idiots. Whatever happened to the days where a sharp corner would poke the eyeball out of the douche who headbutted it? That kid grew up with one eye, and a lot more common sense.

16 Name: Kumo !NC09qbtR1Q : 2011-11-18 20:08 ID:VOxHh/Tt [Del]

>>14 the censorship doesn't help with child security anyways.....it's all a way to make people money in ways like, say, using background music in videos without the consent of the artist. normally i fully support the right of artist and their creations, but in this case it borders on the verge of greed and i know that in many cases it is not the artists themselves but the record companies that really complain about it anyways. also, the "people are getting kidnapped because of the internet" excuse is utter crap. out of the millions of people on the internet, a very very very small percentage are actually harmed as a result. most incidents of kidnapping and sexual harassment are done by people in a position of trust by children and adults alike, that's the fish i would fry if i was a politician trying to stop crimes against children, not the internet.

17 Name: Kumo !NC09qbtR1Q : 2011-11-18 20:09 ID:VOxHh/Tt [Del]

i'm sorry, i meant "stopping people from using background music...."

18 Name: archadmiral!aQdB7dnF.o : 2011-11-18 20:23 ID:7WobUWh6 [Del]

>>ms.mell in Philippines they meet up after being textmates, and get killed.. does that mean they should monitor all messages too? Ok well people get aids through promiscuity do you think the government should decide who you have sex with from here on out... Extreme responses to social issues is not what we need. The more you shelter someone the more retarded they get.. The more you condition them to be protected the more they rely on that protection, and the more liberties they are willing to give up just to get a false sense of it..

The internet Is for porn

20 Name: kurokon : 2011-11-20 02:02 ID:D9wCPvK/ [Del]

its not for porn you dumbass!!!!

21 Name: Kumo !NC09qbtR1Q : 2011-11-20 03:35 ID:VOxHh/Tt [Del]

>>20 according to avenue Q it is. if that's the case then internet censorship is totally wrong :P, however THAT is not what the government is trying to censor and therefore would remain uneffected by the bill. personally, i think the internet is for way more than porn, which is why this censorship bill could possibly be devastating.

22 Name: COMPOSER : 2011-11-20 19:00 ID:R03kTtQf [Del]

Doesn't the government have more important things to worry about than this? It's a waste of time to make a censorship/copyright bill while there are more important things going on in the world.

23 Name: rokkr : 2011-11-21 06:11 ID:bqSagciI [Del]

>>25 as i said, it's not an actual "Censorship" like site-wise, but rather the material being put on that site, and even then it's not in the traditional NSFW sense. it's like i said in >>16, there's some comments directed towards people saying "it's to protect kids from kidnappings" earlier in the post, in case you don't feel like scrolling up more.

29 Name: Kumo !NC09qbtR1Q : 2011-11-24 02:10 ID:VOxHh/Tt [Del]

there were petitions and the bill didnt pass. my friend did say he tried logging into sites that were against the bill and that they were all down, but they worked when he used a proxy, so he's afraid it might be coming back soon, and he's not normally one to be all paranoid and junk.

30 Name: BarabiSama : 2011-11-24 07:30 ID:iYMJI285 [Del]

I'm up for them monitoring it, but them shutting it down would cause trouble. I'm in charge of the social networking for our group, and I don't feel like getting layed off =o= Plus, it's such great adverising.

They're practically changing our way of life. Anybody know of the gaming video ban law they're trying to get through?

39 Name: Thiamor : 2011-12-08 12:55 ID:v+n7ZtUp [Del]

It won't pass. The law also would let the US control other counties' sites. Which they won't stand for, and it's basically against what America was founded on. There already are like....thousands upon thousands and so on and so on of people singing the petition to get it thrown out, and quite a few politicians with 'power' that are against this bill.

40 Name: Live 2 Die : 2011-12-08 15:03 ID:jdo50LvX [Del]

SUE THE GOVERNMENT! oh...wait

41 Name: Phantom : 2011-12-08 18:14 ID:uW/pWobm [Del]

Live 2 Die, You have the right idea, but on the wrong level. If you want that to work, you need to put a petition out during a World Conference.

I DONT mean the meeting of World Leaders. I mean a conference like the ones they host to share ideas with various countrys and compare what is going on.

49 Name: Jebus : 2012-01-09 21:24 ID:yk8gOOYa [Del]

Yeah.....don't think that this will pass, because if it does we will definitely have another Depression. Why, because many companies rely on ad-service on public/premium websites. This will affect mostly the main websites companies and families rely on, such as Youtube, Veoh, and well *cough* many Adult Websites. So in summary, tell that this is a, "No Want!"

50 Name: Charon : 2012-01-09 23:21 ID:Gq+rvoO9 [Del]

Well, shits. The American Government should realize that these sites were their biggest source of income. I doubt that people will want to visit these sites after they're censored. Idiots.

51 Name: Genshi : 2012-01-10 11:48 ID:O/RgUw6f [Del]

I signed it and sent a message to the Florida senator asking him to oppose it at the vote. This is bullshit maaaan.

52 Name: Tri-edge : 2012-01-10 17:55 ID:IhJjbl+t [Del]

If they pass this well,we'll have another revolution on our hands.Just saying.

53 Name: Brad : 2012-01-10 21:12 ID:PcEItrFD [Del]

They will probably just shut down websites/shows that encourage violance or terrism(spell fail)

54 Name: raneha!4gwArIGGFw : 2012-01-10 23:11 ID:+OSxJK/k [Del]

Another bill that has good intentions but just turns out all wrong. I'm all for shutting down/forcing out sites whose only purpose is to provide illegal access to movies, music, etc. However, when these sites get shut down within 5 days of notice without due process of law, there is definitely something wrong.

Honestly, I don't think this bill could work anyway. There's thousands, if not millions, of these websites that they are targeting.

55 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-01-11 00:53 ID:msHLtvZZ [Del]

Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, will be one of the first things shut down if it passes.
There is no GOOD intentions. They only intended on holding back everyone with fear of being arrested, so they can have a more firm grip down on us.

56 Name: Darasuum : 2012-01-11 01:59 ID:EZIJFpv/ [Del]

I think this might be on the main board but keep up the discusion anyway. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DWJIuYgIvKsc&v=WJIuYgIvKsc&gl=US

57 Name: raneha!4gwArIGGFw : 2012-01-11 14:25 ID:+OSxJK/k [Del]

>>56 Actually, this is a duplicate thread! But this thread is actually better (has more details, even a link to the actual bill) than the original on main! It's kind of weird.

>>55 Reading through the bill, I got that it's main purpose is an attempt to curb the illegal distribution of copyrighted material, both digital and material (although the internet part clearly overshadows the bootleg part). Taken to the extreme, I suppose it could be a threat to Facebook, Youtube, etc. However, most of the legislation focuses on internet sites housed outside of the US who freely and purposely distribute illegally obtained US copyrighted works. As long as websites take down the infringing data, which Facebook and Youtube already do, this bill should not affect them. Our government isn't trying to shut down these sites; members use these sites themselves.

Now, I probably sound like I'm defending this bill, but I still don't support it. I believe it's essentially unenforceable with the sheer number of websites around and I feel that other countries won't stand for it. In the end, it would just be a waste of money.

58 Name: Kumo!NC09qbtR1Q : 2012-01-13 09:27 ID:K5fwFkqu [Del]

>>57 i could be wrong, but i remember this one being up before the one on main, making the one on the main board the duplicate thread... not only that, but i don't really see forte making duplicated threads.

59 Name: *insertnamehere*!!mhJDjCwh : 2012-01-13 09:36 ID:51MOce0x [Del]

When in doubt, check the date of the threads.
