Judge to teens: 'Pull up pants' (16)

A New York judge who often deals with teenagers said he was so tired of seeing them with saggy pants that he taped a notice to the defense table.

City Supreme Court Justice Eduardo Padro said he affixed the "Pull Up Pants" sign but he still often has to tell defendants he has no interest in seeing your backside, the New York Post reported Monday.

"I often tell them, 'Excuse me, so-and-so. Were you going to a basketball court, or a tennis court? Because you certainly don't look appropriately dressed for a court of law," Padro said.

"I'm giving them an opportunity to prove that they merit another chance. But one of the things I'm a stickler about is that they need to carry themselves appropriately, dress appropriately and learn how to address people properly," the judge said.

"It's about respect," he said.

A 16-year-old being monitored on home confinement for gun possession said he took the judge's words to heart.

"He's telling me the right thing," the teenager said. Honestly, he doesn't want to see my behind. I understand.

Whats wrong with kids nowadays? Oh wait nothing, it's just the parents fault.

>>2 It's not entirely the kids' fault, yes. But similarly, blaming the parents for the whole thing is just stupid.

most of it is mainly the influence we/they get from the public.

Yeah. The parent's can still be put to blame if they simply don't care, but, they can't be blamed, because some parents aren't too strict because if they enforce rules, their children will rebel

I blame the popular culture.

>>5 kids will find one reason or another to rebel, and if they fear that it may be out of hand, it's their fault for letting it get that bad to begin with.
Now I'm not saying abuse or physical violence towards one's kids... but it is getting bad in some situations.

I kinda find it unattractive when guys do that.. It kind of seems like they dont want to be takin' seriously but treated like an adult when really it doesnt change anything... A bunch of caucasion guys do it in my school and I find it riduculous to just walk the school halls with your pants sagging...:/ If you agree with me, good because Im not the only one with this opinion

I wonder how people think that that is comfortable. I wear a belt and I find that pants worn properly are quite comfortable. Besides, looking like you just walked out of a bathroom stall and forgot to pull your pants up just looks ridiculous.

What I don't get is why they do it, how is that comfortable because I don't see how that makes them attractive at all. I saw some guys earlier today and they looked like that had to go the bathroom. This is ridiculous...

It's quite odd how the saggy pants thing started out in jails around the USA. When a criminal made them sag, it meant they were available to the other criminals...mainly men though. Not this is moving into every school 'round the country and many schools have said that if they sag, they have to wrap duct tape round their pants and shirt so that they won't sag.

Personally I say way to go for that judge, i mean number one it's annoying and number two it reflect poorly on people when they do that. Kudos!
