How many of you have heard of Casey Anthony? She was the mother of two year old (or three year old?) Caylee Anthony and is currently on trial for murdering Caylee. Throughout the entire case, Casey has built lie upon lie up to cover up her tracks, examples of which are her lying about working at Universal Studios, and then revealing that the nanny she had for Caylee for years wasn't real.
The trial has been going on for nearly a month and to be frank, not a lot of headway has been made, in my opinion. I realise this is a little more serious than some things on this site, but I'm generally curious as to the opinions everyone has on this case (though it's mainly U.S. news). So, what do you think? Is Casey guilty? Or is her defense against her father true?

if it is proven that she has lied several times then it hard to belive her on anything. i think that its sad that its possible for a mother to do anything sugested true or not. her father could involved or not, it would not be the first time a mother killed their child lyed to the father and the father not know untill much later

My opinion is that we should give the bitch capital punishment.

I can't say I know much about it as I'm from the UK but if what you said is true about covering her tracks with lie after lie then I agree with Enni.

Honestly, at this point I don't care why, because no matter what the reason, murdering your own freaking baby is completely uncalled for.

Like I said, capital punishment for the bitch.

>>8 yeah I agree full heartedly, but I'm just curious why..

Actually, I figure that if anyone is allowed to murder someone - It would be the parents. So even though I still disagree with this, I do think murdering your own is better than someone else murdering them.

Better. not as bad. something like that.

I didn't put mega detail into my explanation, so sorry about that. From what I know, there is evidence that proves Casey killed Caylee, but the defense is using other (albeit slightly circumstantial) evidence to say Caylee's death was an accident and then covered up by Casey Anthony's father, George Anthony. Most of the trial has consisted of interviewing and cross-examining expert witnesses (some of which hace been proven to not be experts at all) and trying to prove the evidence for both sides of the case. It's a tragic thing that something like this would happen, and I'm amazed that both the defense and the prosecution have been called out by the judge numerous times to get their facts and witnesses more orhanized...shouldn't they be trying harder? If not to get justice for poor Caylee, then at least so the case can be overwith and the jurors allowed to go home?

i hope the trial ends soon.

I heard on the radio that she was proven not-guilty. but is being convicted for other things, like lying to investigators. :|

It was lack of evidence on the prosecutors part wasn't it? I'm not sure if thats right or not though...

15 Name: Holden : 2011-07-06 13:35 ID:o0aGi3jV [Del]

Actually, she wasn't proven not guilty... She was acquitted due to, I believe, lack of evidence...

16 Name: Pintapau : 2011-07-06 14:14 ID:4yYBIRqU [Del]

Under double jeopardy however, it's just as good as not guilty. She went to trial, she wasn't convicted, she can't be tried again over the same matter.
Lying to the investigators is substantially different enough to be on trial for however. Shame she'll only get 5-8 years at the most.

Yeah she can't get in anymore trials about the murder, but I hope she gets a couple years in prison for what I believe she did. Then again without complete evidence she couldn't be convicted. Well, thats all I gotta say on the matter. Uen out, to go post in more areas of the news.

Lack of evidence? She didn't report Caylee missing for 31 days isn't guilty? During that month, she was out partying. She's claimed to friends when the baby was alive that she hated her and couldn't stand her. She's searched "chloroform", "household weapons", and "NECK RINGING" right before the baby was murdered. The duct tape found on Caylee's mouth (skull) had a heart sticker on it, the same set of stickers found in Casey Anthony's house. Her car was reported because it smelled like a dead body was in the trunk. A strand of the baby's hair also found in the trunk. Casey Anthony lied to the cops and changed her story several times. Those are just a few I can think off of the top of my head. And she isn't guilty?

As much as I don't like the ruling of the court, this statement is incorrect.

I didn't follow the trial closely, but as far as I know, the only evidence they really got was circumstantial or vague. Sure, logically, it's only natural to say it was entirely her fault whether she did it or not, but with concrete evidence they had absolutely nothing.

I was watching the news on this last night, and as they put it, they may have proved she was a bad mother, a slut, and an all around bad person, but they did not pin her for murder.

It's just a shame when they can't find enough evidence - essentially, as long as there is a shred of doubt, they can't do anything to her. It isn't a corrupt system, they're playing it safe. It's worse to be wrong and imprison an innocent than to be wrong and let a guilty person go free, when you think about it.

There was no direct evidence that could explicitly show that Casey murdered Caylee. It was technically the correct ruling.

Ah I have a better understanding now, thank you.

I agree with you on not imprisoning innocent people, that's one of the reasons we have courts. But we can't really do anything about lack of evidence unfortunately. :/

correct me if im wrong, but is this the woman that stabbed her child?

25 Name: Lexinoth : 2011-07-12 17:01 ID:1uEQSGjl [Del]

yes this is the Women.... she deserves full life in prison that moster

26 Name: Steezy : 2011-07-12 22:08 ID:L/NxKdwZ [Del]

i totally agree. if she wasnt able to handle the responsibility of having a child then she should have asked the man to use a condom.

27 Name: Kuro : 2011-07-13 01:43 ID:PlG82mfc [Del]

they jury should have put her away for life in prison -.-

28 Name: Rez : 2011-07-13 01:45 ID:dppFbkfs [Del]

Funny how when everyone knows she did it, she still gets away clean

29 Name: BH2 : 2011-07-13 08:41 ID:FtjzTEr9 [Del]

I think shes guilty you could see it in her face

30 Name: Emky : 2011-07-14 16:12 ID:7TQb7sLN [Del]

what is the evidence that she did it how do you know that she did when there's nothing to prove it. i mean were there fingerprints and even though she lied about the babysitter couldn't it have been that she didn't want anyone to think she was a bad mom? What was her mental health before her daughter died.

31 Name: Negativity : 2011-07-16 18:14 ID:H0WVCYGa [Del]

Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson should make a club exclusively for people that have gotten away with murder, seriously

There should def. be a third one that says "hide yo balls/penis" b/c of the woman that drugged her husband, cut off his manhood, and put it in the garbage disposal. Yep, this is the world we live in, everyone!

Man it's just like that other woman who shot her kids back in the day during the 1970s or 80s. But they saidit was somethimg mentally wrong with her and they made a movie out of it. It was so creepy how that woman acted. And she was going to jail with another baby on the way.
