Al-Qaeda has chosen a former Egyptian special forces officer as interim leader after the killing of Osama bin Laden, CNN has reported.

The decision to choose Adel, also known as Muhamad Ibrahim Makkawi, came as militants grew increasingly restive over the lack of a formal successor to bin Laden

So they have replaced Osama with this dude but they have still not have retaliated against the US? It really shows that Al-Qaeda can't do a fuzzing thing to us at all. They can only do the things they want in the Middle East but anywere elss they have no power over; they fail hard.

Or, you know, you're an idiot.

Now granted the sentiment is somewhat accurate - Their base of power is the middle east. The further out you stretch, the less authoritative they become.

However

Any group will take time in re-deciding their leadership - Especially when its a group that is for a so called holy mission. They're representing their god after all. After the leadership has changed, assuming that there are no disagreeances in the group which may cause internal strife, the new leader then needs to take stock of what resources they have and generally get a feel for what they're doing.

If there IS a large scale disagreeance, it can lead to assasination of their own leadership and an all out inter-factional war against themselves. Small time street gangs and the like see this happening often.

Your confidence is entirely misplaced. It is not that they lack any particular power to affect things outside of their jurisdiction, but that their leadership is still transitioning.

That being said - Yeah, Al-Qaeda has succeeded in hiding in the desert ever since they pissed off america. Guerrilla warfare is one thing, but poking one of the world's super powers and then attempting to hide in your country and outlast them?

You can tell its a religious group, no other logical and sane minded military group would do shit like that without a back up plan or allies.

(messesd up twice)
>>3 Well I understand that their not as powerfull as they are in other places other than the middle east, but their SOPPOSED to be (according to them) a very high influence all around the world. Now they may have a strong group in Europe or in the US, but if they do then they haven't done anything with these guys and are practicly being steped on, and if they don't then they suck more because they need strong groups in every country whitch they clame to have.

There's a random attack everynow and then but they have done nothing major since their 911 attack. It's like they have all this power but they don't know what to do with it; or their just very intimidated by use or someone elss but still like I said before they fail hard.

Also it beyond me how the hell they think what their doing has anything to do with the teachings of the Qur'an. I've read it and I got to say it's even better than the Bible; and nothing in it does they say justifies what they do. But like Buddhism it's taught in many different ways so their interpertation of it probably says it's "ok" but I still think they are missing the very big thing Muhamad was trying to teach them all.

Anyway what im trying to say is their full of shit because they say their powerful but not really, and they said they would retaliate but have done nothing yet (as far as I know). And now im here hopeing the war will end soon; probably not going to any time soon unfortunatly
