Well, it may be that nothing will actually improve since there will always be radicals... but at least this might succeed in giving the world somewhat of a sense of accomplishment/security.

In the long run, this doesn't change anything. However!
It is a major boost to overall Morale in America. People are going to be partying, people will be in a generally good mood, and the success will get attributed by the common public to Obama - Who has had the fortune of being in the position to get this boon to America's morale placed in his lap.
It acts something like a placebo effect for the entire nation - I wouldn't be surprised if our economy actually managed to pull up a little more after this. No logical connection between the two events other than the nation has been given something to be happy about/hold some pride in.
A pleasant change to the last few months where we've been looking at the nation in almost entirely negative tones. Who knows how far a little confidence can take us?

The morale booster idea was something that occurred to me too. Something like "Hello you sad and jobless people! Rejoice, we killed a terrorist!". Realistically it's just one person and his death is more symbolic than anything else, since his organization is still alive and well and will probably continue with what it's doing.
