One hour before the government would have been forced to shut down, the 2 parties finally settled over their differences.

It is 11:08 Friday April 8, 2010.

Neither party wanted to give way and it almost resulted in the federal government, and all of the services supported by it being shut down until further notice.

What do you guys think about what was happening here?
I seriously cant believe how childish and stubborn both political parties were being. It goes to show how the government has gotten messed up these days. People are getting too radical.

(Thinking of this and all of the disasters going on in the world right now, my mind can't help but keep screaming 2012, THE END IS BEGINNING)

...what?

3 Name: Misuto : 2011-04-09 04:22 ID:DySgr6oE [Del]

It's not so much childish as the rule in effect is a little silly in itself. The fact stands that neither side could come to an ageement, and trivial or not, both sides were firm in their positions as politicians should be in the first place.
I don't think radical is the correct term for it, seeing as they're doing the opposite - doing it how it's been done for years. it's only now when something like this comes to light that the uninformed masses make a big deal out of it.

And god damnit, I wish the 2012 hoax would die already, it's based entirely on a simple misunderstanding!

Good reply. I don't think I have anything to counter it.

2012 is not a day for the world to end, it is a day when the world will change... but I still dont belive it XD

About fucking time they made an agreement! Seriously I was getting worried about my paycheck, I don't put my life on the line for free!

I dont believe anything important is going to happen in 2012 other than the alignment of all of the planets. Companies are just using this to make easy money. Im a little worried about America's future though.

>>6 No idea what you mean about money, that seems like a throwaway line you stuck in there to sound political.. Aside from the movie 2012, but it's not like that couldn't have been replaced by an equally money making thriller film.

>>7 OH CANADIA. YOU AND YOUR MOUNTIES.

WEll think about this. 2012 is the next U.S. election, and there are some really scary people running. Donald Trump a multimilionaire who thinks everything in the world can be solved with money and Sarah Palin who is dumber than a doornail. Also there is the radical teaparty. The world could chage in some not so good ways as well.

If there's one thing about Trump though, he knows how the economy's supposed to work. Personally, I trust him with the presidency, especially given his competition.

Think about it. Yes, he's self-absorbed and uses money to solve everything, but in a capitalist society that's consistently bordering on economic recession due to panic and shit, isn't that exactly what we need? Someone money-savvy?

On a side note, out of context, "Radical Tea Party" sounds amazing.
WE'RE ABOUT TO SERVE SOME TEA UP IN THIS BITCHHH

Okay, i see what your saying about Trump and him understanding the economy and such, but i personally cannot see him as a world leader... I mean the most i can see him as is secretary of treasury. But who knows!? He could turn out to be the greatest thing to happen to the US economy. Palin is stupid and anyone who votes for her has simply been enticed by her pseudo-charisma...
I also think nothing of the 2012 apocalypse thing...its just Y2K all over again.
And on the note of the topic
>>3 I completely agree.

I almost died laughing at your side note ><

I don't agree about Trump though. He inherited his money, and his polices will be ones that are good for the rich and bad for the poor. This trickle down strategy has already been tried and it failed during the Great Depression. It was the war and the "Pump Priming" strategy that got the U.S. out of the depression. (In case anyone does not know, "pump priming" is where the government spends money and gives tax breaks to the lower class, as well as creating jobs to stimulate the economy. This would eventually reach the top. This was first instituted by Roosevelt.)

Well I can't say I did my research when I made my previous comment, it was just a general feel. Politics generally isn't my strong point, but I see what you mean, kinri. If it didn't work in the past, though, there's no rule saying it won't work now. Situations are a bit different, but I'm not sure how significantly.
Like Mael said though, we don't know what's going to happen until it does, and I haven't really formally heard their intentions for the presidency. Until a better option is given, I still pick Trump over Palin. Or maybe that badass tea party.

One thing I do know though. I've come to learn that in terms of economics, America's always fucked somehow, regardless of the presidency. There's only so much that can be done from a perceived laissez-faire government, and "fixing" the economy should ideally start with the people instead of scapegoating authority figures.

I'm not trying to sound political I was talking about companies using this 2012 idea to make money. I find it sad people are reduced to this to make money.

>>16 And again, name one way the 2012 conspiracy was used to make money other than the movie?

2012 the movie shirts, and supplies for the disaster come to mind.
