Disaster in New Zealand and Massacres in Libya (7)

1 Name: MATCHstick : 2011-02-23 11:13 ID:T+MLvp6H [Del]

I feel the need to put a note regarding New Zealand and the Middle East (Libya, Bahrain, etc); NZ, which has suffered a major earthquake in Christchurch (a main city) with many casualties; Libya, whose nation is attempting a revolution for freedom from their corrupt leader, government and society, only to be responded to with a massacre (similar to Egypt, but in this case, on a much larger and more violent scale.)

http://www.redcross.org.nz/ If the Dollars want to spare some dollars (ha) to New Zealand to help, please donate there. They are without power, without resources and most of all suffering from one of the biggest disasters the nation has seen.

http://www.petitiononline.com/01031988/petition.html And show your support for Libya by signing this petition to convince the UN to attempt to help the country, whose cries for help are going unnoticed by the western media (trust me when I say that the state of their country is horrifying. If you want to learn more about what they are going through, http://www.afaceaface.org/blog/?p=2221 read this.)

Please raise awareness, not only amongst the Dollars but your friends, colleagues, schoolmates and families. We can help people on a global scale, here, just like Dollars should.

Thank you,
MATCHstick

It's funny how a MacDonalds commercial attained more attention than human rights and lives.

This was a very thoughtful thread. Thanks for the links, I'm glad someone posted about this very serious matter.

I have to agree here. It's not that it got more attention, it's just easier to comment on, since it's not such a downer...

I really wish I could afford to contribute, but I'm kind of, well, unemployed at the moment.

As for the petition, your hearts are in the right place, but I've never seen an internet petition be taken seriously. They're too open to fraud. By all means, continue trying, I sincerely hope you prove me wrong. I'll certainly sign it on hope alone.

A couple of my family members were south of that earthquake on vacation. They were lucky not to be around there at the time.
