This is a pretty simple idea but anyone with a fundamental understanding of economics would know that a decrease in supply would lead to an increase in demand and therefore, value. The same can be applied to economics. Now, if we apply this to money and can decrease the amount of notes flooding the market significantly, we'd actually result in an increase our overall bank value going up. That being said, if one person were to destroy a LOT of currency then obviously that would be counter-productive and an unnecessary thing to do (not to mention illegal). However, if we were able to somehow start a trend on twitter or something going #BurnMoneyMakeJobs then we could really do something good for our economy.

The most positively impacted would be those with large amounts of money already.

They would also benefit, sure, but so would the people who didn't burn the money. I'd say lower middle class households probably wouldn't be able to afford to participate in such a trend. And tbh, if we can really make this a thing on twitter, those rich insta kids would be the ones burning the most money.

Even better if there are those out there bold enough we could rob banks across the country, or simply burn them down in order to burn the money.

No the point of the dollars is to be invisible, and to do what you want because there is no rules. plus there is no inherent good or bad that exists.

I've done some research on the topic after reading this, and while burning money DOES cause deflation, deflation IS NOT a good thing. It causes people to hold onto their more valuable money, therefore people making products do not gain money, small businesses close and bigger ones fire MANY people. While it may be good in hindsight, it can be very terrible for people who don't have the money to burn to begin with, and, again, the value of goods will be less than, not equal to, the value of the currency. For YOU this may be nice, but for the company PAYING you, it'll either die or you will HAVE to be fired because they won't be able to pay you.

>>14 I see you've only done some surface level research and not dug much deeper. You don't seem to understand that inflation and deflation are a constant in the economy. The change in political leaders, a rumor of political tensions, natural disasters all cause the value of money to go up and down and the Central Bank does its best to make sure that neither goes too far. Its only in case of some kind of an infrastructural failure in our economy that that kind of a situation would come about. The chances of a twitter hashtag, which would probably only be popular among the rich kids, effecting the entirety of a country like that is just silly. If anything, its going to make up for the crazy inflation that our economy has faced in the recent years.
