Turlock police are seeking the public's help in identifying a woman sought in the theft of a $3,000 necklace from a jewelry store.
The theft occurred Jan. 30 at Prince Jewelers, 1560 Geer Road. Police and Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers this week posted the woman's photo on Facebook.
"It appears she came in with two other subjects and asked to look at several pieces of jewelry," Turlock Police Department spokesman Sgt. Russell Holeman said Thursday. "As she did, the other two subjects distracted the owner while she palmed the necklace and placed it in her purse."
The owner did not realize the theft had occurred until the next day when he reviewed surveillance video, Holeman said.
The reported retail value of the necklace is $3,000. The piece of jewelry is is 28 inches long, 22-karat gold and 47 grams in weight.
