Hey all,
I'm amazed at how much this site grew, and how organized it all is, whoever is taking care of that: it's absolutely beautiful!

Anyways let me get to the point.
The Dollars Pockets mission is a simple mission that has been active and I received many replies in the passed. I created it a while ago with the hopes of spreading joy as well as our name and message!

*THE DOLLARS POCKET*
The dollars pocket guidelines and rules are:
... Print the PDF, cut it out, tape it up.
... Drop a dollar in.
... Drop that little pouch wherever you see fit (Somewhere where someone will find it and pick it up possibly join the Dollars or just lighten up their day)
... If one of you falls upon a fellow dollars pouch please pass it, re locate it or just leave it where it is! (Something you can also do is document finding one here in this thread)
That's about as simple as it is.

I don't think we should spread the word about dollars. The more the people In The site the messier it will be, more trolls everyday and if you watch the anime Durarara 2x you realize that the dollars in the anime became more corrupted because of members that joined that terrorize and kidnap people. You don't think you guys can keep order here everyday

I placed 2 pouches around my school!

I found one in my school the other day. No idea who left it but its strange to think they're another Dollar so close. I do agree with the others though, we shouldn't spread word about the Dollars. It's a secret safe haven just for us

Those who have I'll intention are often ignored or taken care of by saving posts or our good members acting back against the bad. Got these printed out today. They're really cool and I'm gonna work on putting them together later today, and then carry them all with me everywhere to place them. This right here is likely one of the easiest ways to participate in missions and I'm really glad to be taking part in this as my first one.

I think that this is a great idea and very simple.Do you think that we should put the dollars address in there so that they can join??Everybody is welcome!!! Also we need to be more active I mean in the chatrooms they're not taking anything seriously I don't think the main point of the chatrooms was rping.... <3 And I suggest for those that don't have a dollar to give they should write something like ''Have a great day'' or '' You're awesome'' What do you think??

If they look for it they'll find it. I don't think we need to the adress on it. As for the other messages, it feels a bit too light for me: when you put in a dollar, the person who finds it gets something (not much, but something), and they feel that the person who made it really wanted to do it, and not some lousy school project made in five minutes with a little message in it like some fortune cookie. Anyway, that's how I think. I won't tell you what to and what not to do, but I think it misses a part of the point which is to say :"There are people out there who are willing to take some of their own money and give it to a total stranger just to be nice".

I love this idea! I'll make sure to print them and leave them around my school vending machines to make some people's days. I'll have to get some change for my 10's. I'll put them at one different vending machine each day. Let's hope someone picks them up!

I did this myself once. They are really easy to make and just lay around. It would make someone's day to see such a lovely message. It can be quite a hassle though to put money inside of the pocket so if you can't just put something else.

This turned out really great.
Maybe we should all organise a day, (even in different time zones, we can do it on the same date instead) where everyone who can do this will go out and just drop it wherever. And maybe we can put a hashtag so people who find it and decide to post it online find other Dollar Pockets around the world.
But this should be a group thing for it to work. Christmas is soon too.

I would have never thought that leaving the dollar coin in front of the durarara manga would make someone so happy. I made up excuses to see if anyone picked it up. This makes me so happy. I must leave more around now!!

This is a great idea. I've been making these like crazy, and sticking US Dollar coins in them, and leaving them all over my city. Even putting notes in some with messages. This is a simple mission, that you can do at anytime you're out and about! Doesn't require much, and it can really make someones day. Anything to make the world a better place, starting off small, and gaining momentum for something big!

I recently dropped my very first Dollar pocket in the cinema, and it was a really great feeling! When I left, the pocket was gone, so someone must have found it. Knowing I might have made someone smile made my entire week! Definatly gonna drop another one soon!

As many had said before, you could put any currency you want in them. It's more about the message we're sending. Heck, I'm putting 1000 rupiah inside which is really small compared to a dollar because it's the coin with the highest value here.

I tried it, but I used the one Genra-san first made, and not Millax-san's that was bigger.. So it was already too bulky with one coin inserted...

Anyways, I put one in a moving cart that janitors usually push, cause the janitor that was cleaning around looked depressed.. I came back a while later and saw the janitor now has a wide smile! That made me really happy, so I will do this more often!

Tip: Pick you location wisely cause one time I did something like this and the person behind me puck up the dollar and gave it back to me or stuffed it in my bag without me noticing it. I had to choose another location.

Wow, that is a good idea. We do need the members if we are to progress as an organization. It would be fascinating as a random person to receive such a thing and by chance. It might make a person feel it was destiny... All assumptions of a person's feelings put aside. It is a wonderful concept!

Oh.. this really exploded and became much more than I expected! I constantly receive emails everyday from great people, telling me their experiences and asking for the pdf's I'm so happy that everyone is so willing to spread a little light in this world!

OMG so I am new to this, I was invited from one of these pouches just today and it is awesome! I had never heard of Durarara but started watching after I found one of these in the mall near my town. I love this idea. I live in Lancaster, PA, USA and as soon as I find a reliable source of dollar coins, I will do the same.
On top of this, you have inspired me to do more charity work in the name of our gang. I am a chef and bartender by trade. I will start making a little extra every time I cook a meal and make small, disposable bento-style boxes with the left overs. I use to leave excess food from my culinary school around Charlotte, NC under overpasses and such and would love to do it again. From now on, I'll include a little note to keep up the spirits of whomever finds it and sign it as the Dollars. It's about damn time we got serious about spreading our name and improving our communities. A small act of kindness is more than enough to turn someone's day around and maybe even their life.

I just found this website recently and you guys are honestly amazing. I've been watching DRRR for a little while now but had no idea there were real dollars.
I'm not much for thread sites but I plan to invest time (and dollars) into this amazing group

....So I put one in someone's pencil case a while back and today I saw it unopened... I don't know if they haven't realised there's money in it or if they don't want to open it but idk?

I left it under the stair rail in my school and a period later it was gone ^-^ I'm thinking of planting a couple in the manga section of my library

I was thinking we just put our name/our motto and then a really small scanning qr code. And then only give them to people who we have recognised as upstanding people in the communitys we live.

i saw this and was amazed how simple yet good idea it is. I am making some to put around the homeless shelter by my church.it's the little things that counts.

I did this today! I left a pocket on the bus, just on the seat where I was sitting I thought it'd be discreet enough and the next person who sits there would be pleasantly surprised. Although I drew on it myself because I got impatient waiting for an opportunity to use the printer at uni, it's always busy.

Could one put something other than a dollar in the pocket, like maybe a bracelet with charms of positive symbols on it or anything else positive in it? Not everyone can afford to give up their last dollar, particularly durning the winter months. I'm contemplating making something homemade to go with the cheapest Christmas presents I can afford instead of the 'thoughtless grab what I could find' look.

It would better to put something more creative and positive in the pocket than a fraction of your bill money or your child's/sibling's next meal

Just came back from the phillipines doing some charity work for atwo weeks and i used the dollars in the picture i sent previously very fun placing them in airports and such

Already placed 5 of these around at different stores I've been to this week!

I've been traveling a lot and I thought I would do this so I did! I have been putting Dollars Pockets all over the place! About 2 in each airport and a couple in the cities me and my roommate are visiting! He's been helping too cus he is a fellow dollar! Of course we had to stock up on ones and it's been fun. The other day I overheard someone talking about finding one and how it made them think about needing to invest for their future. Apparently that dollar coin was the first dollar they put towards retirement that wasn't a part of their employers 401K program.

I did something similar only with cards i drew digitally and printed and without money (more like business cards with the "the world isn't as bad as you think" slogan, a website and a password) though tbh this website is way to anime and not what it was, I'm thinking about looking into making my own site eventually with the same premis but with a working password, a more modern and streamline/faster design and what not.... idk maybe thats a ramble, but if i do, ill distribute the word the same way, with custom home made business card thingys with only the occasional forum leak from time to time, idk i know I'm not gonna pull a durarara but trying to start up a mini online community of my own may be a fun project one day ^_^

Hey all. I like the Dollars chocolates idea, however I see where egg head was going. How about we use both a chocolate coin and a real dollar coin in them. We help the person monetarily like the original idea, but give them an optional pick-me-up as well.

Update on my Bento Box version:
I haven't done it for a little while, but the last few boxes I left didn't last long at all. For those who are new. I have taken to writing small letters of encouragement and leaving them with boxed meals under overpasses and other places I know the local homeless to frequent. Whenever I make a meal that could keep refrigerated for a while, I make up a box, stick it in the freezer for an hour to get it really cold, then stash it for someone to fine. Most times I don't get the box back, but occasionally I find them where I left them, sometimes with a thank you note.

So while I was walking to the mall earlier today, I passed by this homeless person and thought that they could use something real random and nice. But I ran out of dollar pockets a while ago so with my wallet and whatever was in my bag, I improvised. I wrote on a piece of paper, put a Tims coupon for $1 timbits, and 2 loonies (one for timbits and an extra) in a new set of tissues (so the contents wouldn't get scattered). They were asleep when I placed it beside them but I saw them wake up before I left the area but I do hope they enjoyed it.

I have stopped using bento boxes. It got too pricey and it's been far too long since I got one back. I've switched to buying cheap to-go boxes online. I still leave food instead of coins, though. I also have cemented a few scrapped propane stoves around. I'll leave a can of gas every now and then, but the homeless seem to find that just fine. They have also accumulated a variety of makeshift cookware to reheat food and make hot beverages. That's a huge deal when night temperatures keep dipping below freezing.

Mission accepted! I don't have much money, so I'll give as much food and useful items as I possibly can!

I plan on doing this when classes resume. COVID-19 isn't being nice to us, and all of our tasks at school are rapidly piling up, so I think it'll be nice to give my peers some hope in the future. ^^

I wanna place some of these around my town, but with all this "social distancing" and folks keeping to themselves, I wonder if anyone would actually pick them up or just avoid them. Still, it's worth a shot. The world definitely needs some cheer right now, and no good deed is too small.

Oh, that idea is sooo cute! Sadly, as I'm living in Europe, the wordplay doesn't work (we have EUR, not Dollars).

But generally, I made it a habit leaving nice little messages whereever I go (i.e. on the subway). I enjoy the thought that someone might find it and have a good moment.

With all of this chaos and violence going on, it can be hard to focus on the things that really matter. I had switched to dollar coins for a while but I am back to making my meal boxes again. I feel our messages should reflect the current times and encourage those who find them to help bring peace and civility back to the world. All of this rioting is doing nothing but putting more people into hard times. Wouldn't it be better to prevent their hardship in the first place? After all, this mission is all about getting more people out of those times and back on their feet, one dollar at a time.

It's so fun to see that this mission is still going! I'm doing this as soon as the Pandemic passes over and I get some printing ink. Ive already downloaded the templates.

I haven't been getting out as much as I use to, unfortunately. I have gone back to coins instead of bento since I lost my full time status at my job and have to pay more for benefits for a while.
Hopefully PA will go back to allowing more than 10% capacity for banquets again.

This cause has been going for nearly 5 years now and it has clearly made a difference. Everywhere I have left something it has never been there when I returned and I have even received thank yous from some of the people who have found my meals or coins over the years. A few months ago I went to drop a coin and found a note with a coin from one of the people who found one of my bento. My act of kindness and inspirational note was just what they had needed to get them through a brief period of homelessness. They had found work and an apartment and felt they were well off enough to pay it foreword in the same spot that I had left a box for them. >>1 Genra,If you are still a part of this, it is a truly amazing cause you started and I hope it helps and inspires for years to come.

not like my currency is dollars, i even had to translate the paper to my language so it's understandable. yeah though the thrill was great, i was trying to set it down stealthily cuz i didnt want the person who found it to know who actually set it down.
