Everyone should give to the poor,not just here in the Philippines but also in other countries,when i see a beggar in the streets i try to give as much as i can,I don't give money though,i give them food to make sure they don't use the money to buy on drugs or alcohol here in manila, we need to give when we have more than we need,i know that we'll do well in the future when we have kindness.

TL;DR - This rant isn't about this post but to a much similar one, with a similar purpose, and a similar way of soliciting. Anyways I'm just sharing this experience so I'm very doubtful about asking my new neighborhood around for books to send. Since I'd rather go there and teach the children personally and ask them if they are willing to be visited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Instead of just giving away the items.
Disclaimer: I was also from the slums but I fought for my rights, refused to pray to someone who never gives a shit, and refused to accept a life of poverty and kept glaring at the faces of wealthy motherfuckers who once looked down on me with disgust while they enjoy their life of stuffing food in their mouths, a home, and a nice loving family for granted.
As someone from the slums living without something to eat is the least of your problems. People taking my squatter brothers and sisters to God knows where and what happens to them. Officials using our district for propaganda like rich fuckers who feed us once a month to show "They're making a change" or some introduced to illegal conduct. The moment I learned a few things taught by American soldiers. I made a break and stowed away in one of their cargo ships where I mixed myself in between the fruits where I fed on the journey. FK DONALD TRUMP! I'm staying here in Florida! Nah I got deported but my son is left behind. Not worried cause he got himself a family with 2 boys, I miss them.
Give them something more practical instead of toys that will let them try to avert their eyes on their surroundings, books that a majority of the children from poverty can't and won't read might actually just use to fuel fires,
Donating is great but I hate seeing some books from my 1989
old grade school textbooks that had my and colleague's names and doodles on it being resold in Divisoria. Yes it's old and there's a few fun pages mini drawings at the upper corner with the moving stickmen battles.
Wondering why I'm here? I was a cartoonist and those books really had a sentimental value to me. I'd hate to see it being re-sold in an old book stall even after all those books were something I had earned with hard manual labor as I was growing up ... textbooks were really expensive back then ...
