Hello guys! I was sitting here this afternoon, an I came to this maybe-a-little-stupid idea. Just before I begin telling you all, I wanna apologise if this kind of thread already exists.
So, after thinking about our activity, I came to this conclusion - 65% of people that claim to be part of the Dollars are only anime fans that have no itention of taking responisibility making the world a little better place, 20% are the ones that actually want to do something, but are way too lazy/busy to do anything, 5% are trolls and people that are here only to kill the time, not really caring about anything, and 10% are people that actually do something to benefit the name of the Dollars.
Saying that, I think we all se where the problem lies. Firstly, we don't have enough of the members to cover the whole world, and we are all scattered so we can't really unite. Also, the members we have aren't mostly interested in participating. So, yeah, what we can do isn't much, but we might cover more ground that way.
Basically, I'll cut the crap. Here is what we could do. I do know that this isn't very original, seeing as the anime inspired me for this. As an organized group, we should basically have people that we could call info brokers, and before any of you say anything about how you wanna be it, let me tell you all about it.
Basically, we would need a couple of info brokers that could be available at least 12/24, seeing as many of us are students. If you wanted to be one, you would have to possess a certain knowledge about the subject you would talk about (yes, we would have categories for informations, and each category would have at least 3 information borkers). What I wanna say is - if you aren't gonna give your all about the subject you would give information about, or if you can't memorize a lot of information, or would actually sell your information you don't belong in this group. You would have to take your 'job' seriously, and seek knowledge about the category you are specializing in.
We would also need people that would do actual things, not just sit and learn about things. This group would be as important as the group of the info brokers. If you have wisdom and no strength to it, what good would the wistom do? We would need these kind of people as many as we can get, because they're a realization to this plan.
With this said, we would have more organizated group of people that call themselves Dollars, and we could do something good with this little community we have here.
I'm very sorry if you think I take this a bit too seriously, but I believe that since we are given the opportunity to do something, we should do it!

I see the flaw in the plan.It would be difficult to communicate between the people that are trying to find information. How would they know whom to contact? And how would the strengths of your plan contact each other without revealing their personal information?

Word of mouth seems to be the go to. Unless we added another tab on the side that stated 'Brokers' and within the tab the topics could be posted there. For example under the brokers tab we could put a tab that states "FBI most wanted list." Granted our information resource gathering would not be nearly as expansive as a federal network. But I wonder if you get the gist of things.

But maybe we could exchange the email address, for example, the brokers could put their on the main, news and missions board. And I think what writer wanted to say was that maybe if someone actually decided to focus on only one subject, and try to find out everything related to it, it would be easier to access the information. Thats why Nori asked for special categories the broker could be put into.

What categorise would the brokers be in

I have a question: what would you do once we get the organization that you wish to set up? Are you going to try stopping social judgment of all kinds of poeple? Help spread tips on how to protect our planet against human destruction? Or are they going to be more big ticket items like world peace and world hunger. What ever happens I also think more support and getting the information out about this site is also needed.

I'm sorry but the entire idea of information brokering baffles me...
It's been done countless times before and every time the people realise that the Dollars aren't even nearly entwined enough for information to be necessary.

Yes it would be cool, but seriously think about how this would work.

I fail to see how having information brokers helps to unify the Dollars.

Instead, why don't we try and round up the Dollars in their respective areas to create some sort of 'division'(?) kind of thing. Like having some Dollars based in a certain area work together. For example, Dollars in East London could start co-operating and so on.
The only problem is how we would get Dollars in their own areas to recognise each other and meet up. I guess it's down to their own will.

Hello, I actually like this idea and would like to join in. Nori I agree with you that only a certain percent of the Dollars are actually trying to do something for the better good. If a few minds came together to find a resolve to this your plan could really work out, so why not go for it?

What sort of information would you broker? I mean every person on here has their niche. I have my niche and if someone ever needed help in my categories I will simply answer. you have ten people with niches it beats one person with shallow knowledge of ten things.

I assume what ever the person that contacts us would be looking for. Such as lost items, or certain information on a person of interest that only we can uncover.

That only works in small scale tho in clustered cities or towns. Like I have my contacts in town that give me info on people I don't know but I who would I ask if I'm in Italy and my mark is in peru? And broker means to buy and sell. Do I sell you info on the guy from peru? And chances are if I'm in Italy and I have info of a guy in peru I got the info in illegal ways such as getting into their email or at very least stalked him. Hope that makes sense

I see what you mean, there is in words the easy way around this. If we had more people to this cause and for example live in Peru we could pass on this client to the broker there and vise versa. We work in our own "subunits" you could say, and if we encounter someone from outside our radius we pass it on to one of the info Brooke's that are willing to take on this mission and live in that "subunit".

yeah that could work but it would require many many more people and a database of said people. So Anonymity would have to be thrown out because we would have to know atleast one member or head of a certain "district." That would create somewhat of a hierarchy as well which currently that goes against the Dollars core principles of having no leader.

While the statistics seem fairly accurate to an extent I wanted to explain why 10% of the Dollars, our members, are making a difference and what happened to the other 85% of the Dollars. The answers lay in many places for example: why people joined the Dollars in the 1st place. For the 65% of the people who are just anime fans it makes sense. How did you come to know about the Dollars? Why did you join? I originally joined because the idea of being anonymously connected with other people seemed so cool. Yeah I understand that there are other sites and all but I learned it from a show exculsively which meant I would most likely meet people who say the show as well (not random strangers) which further meant I probably had more than a few things in common with them. And to me it's always fun meeting and chatting with people that share similar likes with me. I can almost guarantee you that 100% of the people here are here because of Durarara and know anime because then why else would have you known about the Dollars in the 1st place? Say you knew about it from a friend but you didn't know much or didn't like anime why would you join even if you're friend said it was to help make a difference? Using the reason that you want to make a difference resulting in joining this site is almost invalid with the fact that there are more popular organizations that are making a difference the red cross for example. Putting that aside another reason people haven't been doing things because they're busy or lazy which was stated as being 20% of the people here. However I believe that category covers not just 20% but the 90% not making a difference. If you ask why? Then the answer is because like Nori said busy/lazy and from my experince some are financial insecure and need to focus on themselves. Besides people spend too much time posting their ideas and getting people who say they'll do it but instead flaking out in the last moment. How do you know if another member will actual join in . Reality is that you don't. I for one joined in the event that helped with Enigma this New Years Eve of spreading our tags and I also cleaned up graffiti around the San Diego area during my vacation trip. I guess the biggest reason for why aren't trying to change the world is because: of the same original reason of why the Dollars site was created in the 1st place. And I'm not talking about real life; i'm talking about in the anime. If you all have seen it you should now that it was created for the reason of being a message board so that people can chat and have fun. The main character Mikado had trouble making friends in reality so he turned to the internet. Those who don't see reason to help or say cant help is because some people here are just to chat and there's nothing wrong that. Sometimes you just need someone to listen to you because loneliness and boredom are mighty foes to humans.
And I'm a bit confused on the ideas of information brokering because to my knowledge every ground-breaking information is already being posted on the internet for free because people already have that job as reporters. That said if you want real information brokers you'd have to go to the undernet for that and i do not reccoment that.

Now before you judge me and all I'm not here to bash on trying to make a difference as I've stated that I really do. I'm just here to defend the other 90% because blaming them for not doing is just practical unfair. The dollars is an organization yes; do we have a goal in general?; debatable probably something along the lines of we want to change the world; does everyone need to help; no absolutely not.

So I fine this idea really interesting but everything would be limited so what if we had it where people ask the brokers what they would like to know then the broker could get back to them in a day or two with all the info on the supject, that way if someone need some info one a specific thing in thier area it would be easier on the broker. I mean it's just an idea.

Info broker? I used to go to a public school until a certain thing happened to me that involved police. Now I go to an online school. Which is a pain in the neck, but my sister still goes to the school. I could do my best to find some info that someone needs. I used to be good at it when I went to the public school. I was the loner and the one no one knew. So getting info was easy. But again just ask me what type of info you need, and I will try my best to get the info.

My issue isn't with you helping people, it's that there is no real action. How many missions has your group actually carried out? How many missions are they willing to stomach? Our intents are clear for some, even if many do not wish to participate. As I mentioned before, there are many people willing to help, but our group is outstretched, making it difficult to organize group activities. Don't say that we aren't helping people; just the other day, I asked for advice on a teacher that was giving me trouble. In return, I was given numerous helpful pieces of advice. Because of that, I was able to patch things up with my teacher, and have begun to do better in that class. You can spread word about your site as much as you want, it makes no difference to me. Just don't expect to be met with open arms.

I know more than just a little bit about everything. Seeing as I am a student and work at a college information about other countries isn't a problem for me. the only way to learn is to do something which isnt allowed,you can learn stuff by breaking rules,in germany reading hitler biography was forbidden in short not allowed,but recently they dissolved the ban to learn,if u live ur live by not breaking rules,you would go no way some rules are not suppose to be break like murdering or raping that i would choose not to break as it would not benfit me beside making me happy and btw argument is when u display oppose how i think or simply do not agree with i ,if u agree with me then thats fine if its the opposite,its an argument

not breaking rules only gives u the knowledge of not breaking them,breaking them gives u the knownledge of breaking them,the consquences and how to overcome them,and so u can share ur knownledge with others who wish to break them to teach them
