Stop slavery (27)

1 Name: Honoko : 2014-12-25 20:39 ID:cs11h11z [Del]

Yo, minna!
Have you guys heard of Contemporary Slavery, also known as modern day slavery? (Here's a link if you want to know more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contemporary_slavery)
I was thinking, this is a huge problem because the big companies (like Apple, Uni Qlo, Cadbury, Nestle, and many more) hide the fact that they use slaves, and no one/ very little people know about it. (Doesn't look like we improved much since the Industrial Revolution!)
How can we stop it? How can we spread the news? Any ideas?

i want to help this..but i don't have any idea..the slaves must be destroyed..it's so cruel

Well, the slaves themselves must not be destroyed. It's the slavery/ ;) @erika

ok...i'm sorry for that i didn't get it...:P @Honoko

No problem. :) Of course, a simple way is to not support the companies and buy fair-trade only. But I think we should have a faster method.

Why not making it public? isn't that faster? I assume Honoko-san has proof of her accusations?

Yes, I do. :) If you want to know more, you can check out the links below:

You can add Nike to that list

9 Name: BarabiSama !lmBitchbiw : 2014-12-27 03:45 ID:tD5+wjUh [Del]

If you're trying to organize a boycott or petition, you may want to remake this thread with all the companies listed and their sources linked in the first post.

Okay, thank you very much, @Chaos. ^^
Yes, that is probably a good idea @BarabiSama. Does anyone else know any other companies that use slave labour?

11 Name: Honoko : 2014-12-27 23:11 ID:cZbo/qkK [Del]

Maybe we should just spread the news? I'll try to think of something.

12 Name: Yuki : 2014-12-28 09:24 ID:Pn2QKrMZ [Del]

Maybe a charity or something??

13 Name: Honoko : 2014-12-28 17:59 ID:96Dl7hxn [Del]

Who would we donate to? @Yuki

That's great! Your comment warms my heart! :D Any ideas? @v

I have an idea, quit Apple and convert to the almighty Samsung. They are slavery free.

How about all Dollars publish about it on Facebook? It's not difficult to spread these news once a "share" button can do the job easily.

We have 553664 members

19 Name: Midget : 2014-12-30 19:18 ID:pOSq4Nty [Del]

The only way we could help them is if Apple and the other huge companies had a huge drop in sales, plus the "slaves" would most likely have nowhere to stay afterwards. I do support what you say, but it would be extremely hard to complete.

20 Name: Loerpiou : 2014-12-30 19:47 ID:Br1Hjg+F [Del]

>>19 Not necessarily. If we forced these compagnies to decently pay their employes, then the ''slaves'' would still have their jod. Now of course it's not something easy to do, but I don't think that it's impossible either

21 Name: Midget : 2014-12-30 20:11 ID:pOSq4Nty [Del]

<<20 Fair point. Maybe that's what we should go for next.

Why not report this information to the media, like our local news stations and the like? For most channels, all you have to do is find the website and look for the option that lets you report something, like how KKTV in Colorado has a "Call for Action" thing. That would generate a lot of attention to this!

23 Name: Honoko : 2014-12-31 00:03 ID:3VTy2i7k [Del]

I'm really glad a lot of people are supporting this idea! Yes. Sharing on Facebook is a good idea. I'll gather all the info I can find and post it as a new thread.
It is quite a big mission, and I think the best way for now is to stop buying from them and support the slave-free companies (like the "almighty Samsung" :D). Then, after the news has spread even more, then we can do something bigger like report it to the media.

Thanks so much you guys! You're all making me so happy!

Everyone, we must also make sure we're all on the same page. People tend to have different definitions of slave labor. Mine is basically people who are forced to do things they don't want to do, getting abused by their 'bosses' while getting paid very little, or getting paid nothing at all. What's your definition?

25 Name: Itsuwari : 2014-12-31 06:54 ID:dRFpZA77 [Del]

My opinion is that poor people, unable to sustain themselves or to support their family, have no choice but to force themselves to work as a slave. The slavery is the way that the wealthier classes take advantage to make money, subjecting others to terrible conditions, since they know that the slaves don't have another option.

26 Name: Honoko : 2014-12-31 16:29 ID:RFhX1Tmb [Del]

Fabulous explanation, @Itsuwari! I totally agree!
