The 21st Century Unity Project (18)

1 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2014-05-17 05:28 ID:ZEIP630J [Del]

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I have a project for you. The other night, I created a motivational speech which I recorded and posted on YouTube. Tonight, I ask of you to spread the word of this message in your own way.

1) Create an audio or video recording of yourself reciting the speech below. Sync it to the most epic music you can think of, something that's eye opening and awe-inspiring.

2) Upload your audio or video to the internet. You can use any site of your choosing. Post the URL of your video in this Dollars thread.

3) Spread the word of the project, and get as many people to do the same!

--------

"As each new generation is born, they grow with a new perspective on how the world works. The ideals and approaches perpetuated by our forefathers are discarded, replaced with those we deem to be better and truer. And though we feel our actions are just, we are marred by a fundamental flaw in how we turn our backs on the past.

Though the abandonment of historical failures is an important social responsibility, we in our haste become ignorant of historical successes. Foolishly we turn a blind eye to ideas and processes which can be updated to reflect modern ideals, and natural phenomena which we fail to recognize as having a modern parallel. This is erroneous and short-sighted; it limits our potential as humans! Our hearts and our minds are firmly held by the preconceived notions that forward is the sole directional path. Before we can step out and change this world, we must change this destructive narrow-mindedness!

The time has come to relinquish the mental chains which bind us to a narrow worldview! From here on out, we question with boldness the fundamental nature of our status quo, and the way which we live our lives! All of us can evolve, to become something larger and greater than our mere selves! In this way, we become more than human! Go forward, into the future, confident in our potential to spark a new Renaissance and forge the pillars which uphold a new era of reason! This is our time to prosper!

In all of us lay a great student and a great teacher. In all of us lay the capacity to understand the theory of everything, and the ability to invoke that understanding in others. Our value is not the result of some benchmark, reputation, authority or other superficial classification. It is in our ability to recognize the complexities hidden within the most basic of elements.

The natural earth, its plants, animals, insects, and formations all serve as canvasses for emulation. The relics of the past, no matter how dated adn inefficient, are all candidates for resurrection and reinvention. Let us not delay in a thorough examination of the old, so that we may assimilate it into the new! Let no object be spared of this thorough inspection! This is our mission and our shared responsibility as representatives of the twenty-first century!"

I agree with some of the message but not all of it, which has me a little iffy about recording myself reading it aloud and spreading it through the world lol

Would you mind giving us a full interpretation so people know what they're saying?

The message derives its meaning from various sources. Some of it is more functional in nature while some of it is more abstract and spiritual in nature.

In one vein, there is the abandonment of old technology in favor of new technology. Such a mechanism is rather consumerist in nature, and that's incredibly disheartening to me, because a lot of older technology is quite viable, and could be repurposed (for example, to provide lower-cost services to those in poverty).

In another, there is this severe lack of critical thinking in today's youth. As the world became faster paced (think 1960s-1980s, Levittown, Suburbia and all that other bullshit), you notice this disconnect from nature and a rather direct, in-your-face regurgitation of information (television, the internet, pop culture). The youth of today spend more time absorbing information than trying to understand its application.

The idea that "in all of us lay a great student and a great teacher" is twofold. It starts with asking the questions which help us best interact with the things around us, and which best allow us to make proper use of even the least significant details. It ends with the ability to instill in others that pride in the critical thinking process.

Of course, that's all wishful thinking on my part, as the one who drafted up the message. The reality is that it's up to the viewer to come up with their own interpretation for what this means. It's not going to be obvious, and why should it be? That would undermine everything I just said above.

Just one more point, since we're on the subject of opposition. You have a problem with how it's written? Then you already know what you should be doing.

>>4 I don't mind how it's written. There are just some parts of it that I interpreted differently and disagree with, and I don't really see the point of repeating the same speech over and over again instead of having each user draft up their own to explain their views through their own inspirational tones. It's a better idea than everything else plaguing the board right now, though xD

>>5 As stated in the OP, I want people to spread the word of the message in their own way. If there are things which people disagree upon, then it is important to get that out in the open now for the sake of keeping the idea alive. While I'd be thrilled if everyone followed the template to the letter that's pretty idealistic on my part.

How about we start with, which parts did you not agree with so we can focus on fixing them?

It's a good idea, as far as delivering messages, but the personal aspect has never appealed to Dollars members. If we could do this through means of anonymous speeches, then that would probably work. If someone would create a youtube channel for motivational dollars speeches, then have one person read what members send in, that would be even better.

I have a vague idea about gathering a lot of speeches from various members and blend them together, syncing them in a music, in just one video. That would show the world that there are a lot of people that reunited to make the video, and that these united people are us Dollars. And I like the word blend, because it reminds me of the colorless aspect of the Dollars, teehee~

>>8 I like this idea a lot, actually.

>>9 The video would probably be too long in the end to make any impact. Each message oughta be separate either way.

>>8 I don't exactly understand what you meant by "anonymous speeches" and the correlation with these type of speech with the creation of a youtube channel and the person who'd read them. Mind explaining to me? :l

>>10 By too long, are you considering that members would alter the original text to their own and that these alterations would make their texts shorter?

12 Name: Okarin : 2014-05-19 14:53 ID:6H65szNO [Del]

Also, I'd be too shy to record m-my voice and s-spread it through the world. That's why I suggested the speech gathering.

>>10 Thanks :) I think that this could really work if we got people behind it. Its much easier to get people to act anonymously.

>>11 I mean that Not necessarily you, but someone. As for the system, Have a "Dollars Motivationals" youtube channel and have someone read out loud short 2-5 minute speeches written by other dollars members on a thread or dropbox or something. Because they'd be anon, I'd be willing to bet that many people would participate. With videos being posted, and Dollars members viewing them and promoting the group, it might be good for gang morale, as it hasnt been spectacular lately.

>>8 If you want, I could create the account.

I've not been able to help out much so i wouldn't mind reading out the speeches for everyone ^^

I'm going to it ^w^

16 Name: OrekiX9 : 2014-05-20 15:48 ID:IFJkBV4e [Del]

Well I can't read it all because it's soooooo long...so let's us share it in one video like: I will read the first part then comes the sound of another Dollar's member and so on....

17 Name: Zeptex : 2014-05-21 13:25 ID:Bq4sg8/q [Del]

I do not intend to offend, but you will keep yourself anonymous correct? >>16

18 Name: OrekiX9 : 2014-05-21 13:40 ID:iEROOosh [Del]

I intend to ^w^
